Is a Trump presidency a threat to the adult industry?
I've been reading things about Project 2025, and I saw that sites like Pornhub are showing ads before videos warning of a Trump presidency, or at least the Project which is being associated with him.
As a non-American, I'd like to know from more knowledgeable people here if a Trump presidency would be a real danger to the adult industry. I saw a video of him explicitly distancing himself from Project 2025 when questioned about it, and he said that a lot of their ideas are crazy. I do remember that when Trump was running the first time, quite a few here were predicting that he'd try to ban porn, and he did no such thing. The left-leaning posters here (probably a majority) also tend to ignore the fact that the push for anti-porn laws often comes from the Left, and that's certainly the case in Europe. For example, the Conservative party in the UK introduced a draft for a law to ban the sharing of deepfake porn, but the new Labour party says that's not good enough, and are going to make the creation of it illegal too. |

If it happened to you, I'm sure you'd want the law to have the teeth to take down the people making and spreading it. That's a far cry from legal adults making a little fucky-fucky video to put on pornhub!

I support the law against sharing non-consensual deepfake porn, although it was already essentially covered by laws against revenge porn. I think a law banning the private creation of it is crazy. Anyway, I was simply illustrating that Labour (the Left) are going further than the Conservatives (the Right) on this matter.
The UK (Left) government are also pushing ahead to make it near impossible to run an adult website from the UK. https://www.xbiz.com/news/284852/uk-...s-not-feasible |

It's difficult to label AI into the porn industry since the actual creators are the common user/people that usually buy the porn.
That being said - what Huggles said is correct - and right now there are efforts being made to stop things like revenge porn or creating celebrity or ordinary pictures of people in a porn scenario One way that at least the credit card companies are fine with is having a full - fast and immediate take down policy to remove any content that someone finds like that. Lawyers and processing companies can help with that. we need to pay attention to this since it appears that people are getting tired of vanilla and want to cross the edge by creating images/videos that normally would happen outside of your fantasy. Trump really has nothing to do with this honestly. He can go only as far as the law will allow but his focus is on other things of more importance to him.

No politician is a friend to porn.
Every politician is a danger to porn. In the US, our only friends are Judges that understand and are willing to apply to the Constitution to laws enacted to harm the industry. But between the two, Trump (who appeared in Playboy, paid pornstars for sex and actually distributed porn in his hotels) is far less scary that a career District Attorney who prosecuted Backpage and pushed for FOSTA-SESTA. Past behavior is the best indicator for future behavior. This is why the Democrats are jumping up and down on how Trump wants to be a dictator and some how they believe that Harris is suddenly going to stop being someone that has shown clear animosity to sex workers. |

"State records show that Trump donated US$6,000 ($9,107) in total to the then-California attorney-general [Kamala Harris]'s campaign — US$5,000 ($7,589) in September 2011 after she was first elected, and another US$1,000 ($1,518) in 2013." https://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/...ship/wj85mj5yq As for Fosta Sesta it was ushered in by the House of Representatives with a vote of 388–25 and the Senate with a vote of 97–2 So you're right about your first point. Every politician is a danger to porn/sex work. Essentially no politician had a problem with that legislation. Far from being only Kamala or the left. Not to mention the bill was signed into law by Trump! She's also not behind Project 2025 which has language in regards to banning online porn. Will that happen under a Trump administration? Doubtful that would happen at all under any administration. But as steps are taken to remove certain websites (backpage), criminalizing certain aspects of the industry is possible. He's got the supreme court in his pocket. What is going on with women's reproductive rights and safety is atrocious.
