Goosebumps and tears. That inspired ME to not give up. It saddens me deeply that such a brilliant mind was locked in a damaged body. Healthy, he’d have gone to the moon, climbed Mt Kilimanjaro, been president, inspired millions to go to college and probably have invented a product we only imagine.
It’s horrible how he wasn’t known to everyone and many had no clue who he was. I spoke to at least five CNAs who had never heard from him. I hope a book comes out about his life and is used in school. Teach kids that giving up is wasted and people in wheelchairs and disabled aren’t stupid. Many have brilliant minds that go unnoticed. Helen Keller was taught to me in junior high school and showed me not to judge on perceptions. You can be deaf, dumb and blind yet still learn Braille, learn to communicate and learn to survive. Putting my soap box away now.
