I've gone left too far.

I couldn't go any further left then this.

I'm fed up. Doesn't matter how much i earn. But the idea itself is gross. It means if'm older than 30 I would probably never get my own apartment.
What we all really do care about are the basics - safety first, then it's about having something to eat. That all makes sense if we have a roof above our head. Must admit, no matter what, but the 'roof' case is what keeps us going.

The modern slavery is simply based on the real estate cost. It's insane many have to pay more than 1/2 of their income for the basic apartment to live in. And this is living in fear of losing an income source.

We call it civilisation, a human approach to things, is that true? Staying for more than 30+ years in debt to simply have a place to live is inadequate.

This is the first thing to level down - let people have their housing for free, government built properties should be available for everyone.

You're lucky enough to.

How about those who are not?

Even those who earn enough to support their family stay in the loop and depend on their jobs. Should not be that way.

This is incorrect. Mortgages here are typically 25-30 years but most people pay them off on average in 10 years. With property, the longer you wait, the more expensive it's gonna be.

People. Who have relatives. Family. Help in general. But new comers are having it tough.

Even apartment rent is rising.
Either move somewhere cheaper or get 2 jobs

Housing prices are dictated by supply and demand. If having a house is your primary concern, then move somewhere housing is cheaper.

America was founded and became the dominant world power by people who moved to where there was better opportunity. It's only been the last 30 or 40 years that the bulk of people decided that everything should be offered to them on a silver platter wherever they choose to live..

You can't afford to live where you are then move somewhere you can afford.

You've got it wrong. The left is your problem. That's many are fleeing highly taxed major metropolitan areas. Places like Detroit where you are paying $4-500 a month in taxes alone on a shit hole.

Back in the day, and no that long ago, Fedex drivers used to pay their houses off. A simple job was enough. But now it's not like that.

I agree, working online is the option to move into the affordable area. Just when you hit a certain age you can compare renting and maintenance cost and notice the difference

banks give printed-out-of-thin-air money to people who already have money and they hoard real estate and rent it out to their debt slaves...in turn, prices of real estate rise, the price of your work falls and money trickles up...the concept is called onehunglo-ing...

capitalists love to exploit their fellow countryman either through onehunglo-ing or paulmarkham-ing...

Right, same as Italy.

Paperwork is involved in my case still. But that's a good option I am considering.

the point of home ownership is to have a 'place' in the world of your own or as a long term investment. what's good for 1 is not necessarily good for another. most important to me is location, not owner ship. that's not for everybody and my kid is long gone...

when I started working as a kid, a man made $3.50 an hour or so, and owned a home and supported a wife and kids.

those days are gone, globalization had good points and bad points.

the good being that the 'fucked over third world humans' earn a substance living as opposed to sex slave an we in the west have employment and wage issues.

one thing for sure is you have cast every opportunity that western culture offers as negative and destructive.

might want to re-think that one a bit and 'earn' yourself some of the good life... or not

Right. I'm so angry it's getting harder and harder working alone supporting a family. I can literally see my income going down the shitter. This world is now working for singles only.

it has nothing to do with western/eastern culture it is pure exploitation...banks create debt and allocate it to the privileged few...their worth trickles up, while the income of the rest trickles down...

it is a matter of fact type of statement that is based on the most basic principles of economy...

it is affecting everybody because instead of people having more disposable income they are forced to pay inflated prices for real estate to the select few...YOUR customers would have more money to spend on your products if the housing racket was not so prevalent...

I already suggested that the USA should create its own market by giving away real estate for free...people would have more disposable income and the economy would boom...

Depending on your age and income bracket, buying a house seems like an impossible dream. I remember getting married, having a kid, and graduating college all in a two year period and saying "I'll never be able to afford a house". In fact, this is exactly why I accepted a job with Lightspeed Cash in Phoenix - Because houses were so cheap in Phoenix.

Start saving money now. For the love of good, stop eating out. Last Friday we ate lunch out (pizza) and then dinner at In & Out Burger. Before I knew it we had spent $65 in one day just on crappy food. Then do the math... If we did that every day it's just under $2k a month... In fast food alone. (And it's bad for you.)

I don't need a house that large. I'm not in USA. I come from USSR and lived on a $5 a week in USSR times. I spend 200-300 / mo for eating out with my family, but it's not what saves the day to have a house / apartment that is JUST about USD 100k.

But I get your point. I have to sacrifice my life to have a home. No. And this is a whole point/ Housing should not be that expensive.

And yes, i am looking for 50k options in Italy when I get to the point of having proper resident papers.

Actually it is that easy. The problem is you are falling into the trap of too much debt to income. I don't mean just stuff like credit cards or whatever. I mean all the stuff you pay each month.

The fastest way to increase your income is to cut your spending. Cut your expenses, go live in a van do whatever it takes to get yourself out of debt and in a position to keep your money and advance your goals.

I don't do all the traveling I do because I'm a baller or well off. I do it because I reduced my living expenses and made a sacrifice to be able to do what I want.

The key is, if you make a sacrifice for a goal, you have to make sure you can achieve the goal or the sacrifice is for nothing.

I don't need a house this large either. Our only kid is leaving for college come fall and there isn't much sense in such a big house. We are thinking about down sizing.

I'm sorry, I just assumed you were in the US.

Yeah, you need to save. I remember when I was first working for Lightspeed Cash, before we were making the big money, we used to save every chance we got....

[QUOTE=Rochard;22256106]I don't need a house this large either.

I worked for Steve too. And Bob. Just probably you were paid better LOL.

Housing price is one of the main reasons why Croatia is dying out, so to say (mortality > natality).

Start of life for young couples is difficult as fuck, with roughly 100 k EUR (or much more) to pop for an apartment or SUFFER with renting for 300-400 EUR monthly. Renting being difficult since average monthly salary is around 700-800 EUR.

Hence leading to average age when getting married in Croatia to be around 30 years old.. growing by +1 yearly, statistically.

However, at least in Croatia.. real estate prices for coast and few big cities are 2000ish EUR / m2, but you can buy a big fucking house in small city for PEANUTS (I'm speaking of like 20 000 eur for whole 200 m2 house or such).

I'm even wondering if I'm crazy to live in Zagreb because of it.. I could probably trade my apartment for a villa elsewhere.

This is the way the US is as well. Big cities or coastal areas are usually expensive but the rural states housing is very cheap.

I don't see that - they look as expensive as shit everywhere in Italy to me.

Are you aware you can get a house for $30,000 in Kentucky?

You are saying you want to buy an apartment somewhere for 50k USD?
You are forgetting that almost everyone who buys property in North America has huge mortgages. Houses are minimum 750k - 1 million +.

Houses are minimum 750-1M in North America?

Do you live in North America?

Houses in North America are all over the map. You can get them for 20k in some places. You wouldn't want them, but you can get them.

300k can get you something almost anywhere, minus San Francisco and New York City.

100-200 will get you something decent in most cities.

Austin is getting more expensive by the day, and I have multiple friends that just bought brand-new built to suit houses for 250k.

Outside of the cities they drop dramatically. Apartments in good parts of Manhattan, 2 bedrooms, are 2-3 million, same in san fran.

But in rural areas there are thousands of houses for less than 50,000.

Here's a good website realtor.com choose Ohio, put in 50000 as the top price. go to map view look around.
