They take other people's money, buy a company with financial issues, then charge huge management fees.... Bain Capital wins no matter what. If the company survives, great, if not... They failed to adapt and acquired huge debt. They could not survive Chapter 11, and like many turned into Chapter 7 (total liquidation).
