Do you really think NK is going to give up their nukes? I do not and never have.

I've said all along that I highly doubted NK would ever make a deal where they gave up their nukes. It will be interesting to see if there can still be some common ground for some kind of deal that at least lowers the threat level.

Kim Jong Un is sitting in a position right now where he could go down as one of the great NK leaders. To do so he could cut a deal with the US to get rid of his nukes in exchange for some premium subsides from the US. They get cash and we (along with SK and others) give them guidance on their economy. He closes down the work camps and stops the crazy marshal law type ruling and brings in capitalism. Make trade deals with SK, China, Japan, the US and anyone else who wants their natural resources and they could quickly become a nation where the people have a good life, they have a strong economy and live in peace.

Of course, that would mean giving up his seat as dictator and his nukes so I doubt he would ever do it, but it is there for the taking.

He could, but those missiles can't hit the US. He would have to shoot them at South Korea or Japan unless they put one on a ship and tried to bring it over here.

Kim might be ruthless, but I don't think he is crazy. He knows any war with with the US where he fired any kind of a nuke would end with the destruction of his country. He is using them as a defensive tactic, just like Iran. People won't invade so long as he has them.

The Hwasong-15 missile was tested and it can hit any American city, he's not going to fuck around with Hawaii or Cali when he can land one in down town Washington. Debatable if he can attach a nuke for a ground explosion, he'd certainly get an atmospheric one though and no issues at all landing Chemical or Biological weapons.

I have a feeling we have the ability to shoot those long range missiles down. Even if not, their technology is such that he wouldn't get much off as far as long range missiles go before we start raining hell down on them. Kim has to know he could hurt us, but it would cost him his life and his country. I don't think he is willing to do that.

All that said, my biggest worry with Kim is not that he would fire a missile, it is that he would try to sneak a warhead on a boat or plane or something into the US and ignite it. In the end, that wold also go badly for him, but I could see how he might think that option could work.

yeah but.. that's how ballistic missiles work, we have this thing called gravity, as long as you can get it high enough, which they did, then throwing it from a to b is very little effort.. its the easy part.

America might like their missiles to hit a postage stamp, however that's not required for North Korea, anywhere within a 1000 mile circle will do fine, USA is a big target. In many ways a nuke hitting in the desert or one on top of NYC make absolutely no difference, you'll kill more of yourselves in the aftermath than any explosion will do, its the chaos and melt down of your society that would do the most harm.
