GoDaddy scares me...

I have a couple of domains there, one renews in 5 days but I want to cancel it but there is no option for doing that so I went for next option and that is deleting my credit card info from my account so they can't charge it but it won't let me do that because there is a renewal of a domain scheduled it says, so basically i am trapped in a vicious circle here. Also chat support has been removed, I can only phone them from Monday till Friday. I will phone them tomorrow but I think it's way too complicated this way to cancel a renewal.

Just wanted to get this off my chest... and maybe you guys can suggest me some other, better domain services preferable as cheap as GoDaddy :-)

Thank you

I never set renewals on automatic, and if I don't want I just let it go.

Seems all the registrars are changing. Godaddy spammed the hell out of me and their site is a clusterfuck of trying to sell you more. I prefer namecheap but they've changed it a lot too.

" as cheap as GoDaddy "? Are you kidding me? GoDaddy is the most pricy I've ever used. The majority of decent ones are less expensive than GoDaddy. I've transferred away almost all of my domains from them long time ago. As for the ui, I agree, things supposed to get simplified but they got only fucked and more confusing and now it's not even working with any browser older than a year.... support is no more as it used to be, no discounts for renewals, even if you got 100 domains... fuck them....

I like namecheap personally. I moved all my domains to namecheap from godaddy about 10 years ago. No problems at all so far

Thanks for the answers guys... there really is no option to cancel the domain or stop renewal... I got another phone number for support in Holland which I called and I was put on hold for like 10 minutes. Then I gave up waiting. Then I went to my credit card info again and added a new credit card with fake CVC code and fake expiry date and removed my other credit card. So they will be renewed in 5 days but they won't be able to to charge my credit card, I am able to turn off auto renewal of a bunch of other domains which I will do now then in the meantime I will try to transfer all domains to another service because honestly everything about GoDaddy is just horrible especially the interface I spent hours today managing a few domains. So you guys suggest namecheap or Namesilo I will check them out, thanks!

I had a Godaddy domain cancel that I forgot about. The email gave me a link to renew the cancelled domain. I clicked the link and my domain wasn't there. No chat for support. I called. My estimated wait time was 53 minutes! I selected the option to have them call me back. an hour and a half later I got a call back and the woman said they're having technical issues on the site.

I use name.com for 8 years, no problems with them. they provide free private whois with code "privacyplease"(on renewals too). com registration $8.99, transfer $8.25, SSL certificates from $9.99.

"Godaddy" and "cheap as" don't really go together.

They are as shady as fuck. Won an auction back in the middle of June, still don't have the domain in my account, but under "Status" it says "ready by 26/06/18". So they have my money, but I don't have the use of the domain. Twats.

If you are not able to do something you can always call their support team by phone, they are always nice and ready to help you (according to my experience).

I don't quite get it - there is no auto renewal option for that domain but for other domains there is? The field in the domain manager is empty?

Yes Stefan, it just doesn't show the option for switching off renewal when the domain is close to renewal, it shows that option for the other domains though. Really shitty.
