Cambuilder's new KYC requirements...

Just went through CamBuilder's new list of required documents.
Might as well be creating a new corporate bank account.

===========
Required Documents for Companies in the United States

Formation or Incorporation documents that could include the following:

1. Articles of Incorporation, Articles of Association, or comparable
2. Operating Agreement
3. By-laws (Required only for INCORPORATED Companies, not LLCs or sole proprietorship)
4. IRS Assignment Notification (the notice received by a business with the EIN issued in the company name)

If the company selected as the primary contact and payee is owned by another company, we require the same set of documents to be provided for both the payee, and the owning company.

In addition to the documents above, Ultimate Beneficial Owners who own 25% or more of the above companies need to provide:

1. Proof of ID of the Ultimate Beneficial Owners (Passport or State issued ID)
2. Proof of Address of the Ultimate Beneficial Owners (example: home utility or phone bill)
3. W9 (W8-BEN-E Non-US citizens)

Required Documents for Companies outside of the United States

For companies outside of the United States, we require the international equivalent of the documents listed above.

Please use the document upload interface (below) to upload the required documents. With each file upload, please indicate the document type you are uploading, along with any notes that you think are relevant.
===========

I dread the thought of all sponsors migrating to this standard. Would not be good.

Yes. Of course. Banks want to know who is running your company, and where you sleep.

Nothing new there.

But imagine the timesuck if/when all sponsors require this shit.

And many small-medium sponsors are not worth the time / risk of uploading all that sensitive information.

Curious where you're seeing this? I don't have an active whitelabel, but do have an account, and it's accepting an SSN instead of an EIN and I'm able to indicate that I'm an individual. Is this something that's not yet implemented but on the horizon?

Big red banner at the top of the stats page. Reads:
Quote:
URGENT: We require that you upload certain documents to verify your payee information. Failure to provide these documents may result in payments to you being put on hold. Visit the KYC information page for additional information or go directly to the Account Documents page to upload your documents.
That banner links to:
https://cambuilder.com/app/#/kyc
-and-
https://cambuilder.com/app/#/documents

Details are provided for both individuals and corporations.

For individuals:

1. Proof of ID (Passport or State issued ID)
2. Proof of Address (example: utility or phone bill)
3. W9 (W8 Ben Non-US citizens)

Long story short... at the behest of their payment processors, Cambuilder needs to know exactly who you are and exactly where you sleep – even if you're a corporate entity. It's just like opening a US bank account.

Probably a matter of time before all affiliate programs are required to collect this information.

Cambuilder has not revealed the deadline to submit all the information. But it's coming soon, and payments will be suspended until all requirements are met.

There are many sponsors who don't even have SSL enabled sites for their affiliate programs. Uploading highly sensitive documents to them is just asking for trouble. I'm not even sure I'd be comfortable uploading documents to CCBill, if asked, given their antiquated control panel.

While I believe uploading documents to Cambuilder is low risk, there is still potential risk. British Airways just announced today that they were hacked and exposed confidential customer data, including payment info. Heck, even the Pentagon was hacked.

Exactly.

Plus... Lots of crooks running affiliate programs. This kind of private corporate info is worth big bucks in the wrong hands.

For all you know a form on a "secure" site could just be emailing the uploaded files to someone's Windows workstation.

Are you buying their company? You can't be asked to send in those docs if you are just an affiliate.

You can be asked, if you want to get paid.

Wrong. When the payment processors say jump, you gotta jump. If you don't, you're out of business.

My misunderstanding, sorry. I thought you were an affiliate of the actual owner of the site and not a direct partner of the billing company.

When a payment processor flexes you jump. It's the reason most the camming sites have the rules they do, and why networks like SpankLive are able to be much more liberal about what is allowed (as they're crypto-powered, thus no pesky payment processors).

The payment processors have more control over what the cam sites allow or don't allow than governments do.

Just look at the CamModelDirectory debacle. Their payment processor dumped them and caused all hell to break out. Ultimately the reason they went onto the market and got acquired by IndieBill.

What I find interesting: When I first saw this thread, I asked a contributor who's running a CamBuilder whitelabel if they've seen this. They hadn't at the time this thread was posted, but just got the email saying that red box appeared for her. Kind of weird the announcement didn't hit everyone's dashboard at the same time.

In some ways this is quite reasonable. MC/Visa get pissy about companies billing on URLs that are not owned / in control of the operator of the merchant account.

Hence some white label cam operators want you to sign the URL over to them for the duration of the agreement.

For the cam company it is an awkward situation, they want to run white labels and they dont want these regs, but they cannot afford to have their biiling processes threatened.
