Crazy that they price them like that.
I guess to get the rich people to buy them at first.

We all know that by next year they will be a few hundred bucks.

ya, I just think it's dumb cause tv channels aren't even 4k yet. This will have even fewer movies available.

But ya in 2 years the 85" 8k will be priced like the 85" 4k. Wow just looked and you can pick up an 85" 4k for like $1,700.

My TV is a few years old and is a 50 inch. I'm good with that.

I remember when a domainer bought a special ordered 80" Samsung about 10 years ago. I think he paid like $100k for it. Supposedly was the only one in the World. I LMFAO when he bragged about it. I bought my 70" 4k Samsung on clearance at Walmart for $550 about a year or so ago.. Rarely even turn that fucker on.

15k actually seems a steal for that, I remember when flatscreens first came on the market and paying 10-30k was common place.

I wonder if Samsung have finally included DTS passthrough via optical that always has been my major concern with Samsung as I run a Sonos sound system so digital optical out only and they scam you by cheap parts that don't passthrough full 5.1

Its like back in 2014 I opted for a 4K TV but honestly, I can count on one hand the amount of actual 4K content I have been able to watch on it...

Cunt see any point in getting an 8K yet whatsoever...

How much bandwidth would 8k need for streaming?..

4k would be just fine for 85 inches.

Go over 100 inches and MAYBE 8k would be noticeable. But it sounds like you have the money to flush down the toilet so good for you. By the time 8k is standard, the TV will be ready for the trash heap with all of it's old 2018 features.

Think i am going to wait until LG start shipping their 173" OLED 8K (yes you read that correctly 173 inches) that was announced in August of this year.
I have always purchased Samsung but when i recently compared a Samsung QLED to an LG OLED. LGs blacks and sharpness was very noticeably better than Samsung

When HD TV's first came out at Costco and Bestbuy, they were around $20,000.

The best thing about technology is that the prices always come down, and fast. That $15k TV will be $5k in a year or so.

FYI if anyone here is about to buy a projection TV, DON'T!. They're too dark, too noisy and run too hot compared to the latest technology which is called Short-throw LASER projection TV's. The first ones were $50k but you can buy them now for about $5k that produce a 100" image. 4K versions are available and 8k versions are coming soon I'm sure.

Do you have double front doors? haha cause a 173" tv won't fit a normal door but if you can afford that tv you proly have 12-foot door(s)

I had 106" projection before and it was nice but anything bigger unless you have a HUGE room the size of a theater you would be looking left and right to see the whole screen.

Guys bragging about whose is bigger ......

Mine is just 42” and it’s about eight feet away, upon the wall. I can’t see it clearly my eyes are so bad I’d rather watch Netflix on my iPad screen set on a stand about eight inches away. Sharp, clear and no strain.

If I were home, I’d have 60” on my southeast corner living room wall. I had a 50” but not a flat screen. $1,800 but the guy at Best Buy let me have it for $1,500 cash and threw in a cabinet stand for vcr. I laugh now but that was in 2005 or 2006. I never asked if it was sold or tossed.

Best television we had was a Hitachi when they first came out. 13” color, for the kitchen, when I lived at home. Had it for fifteen years when I moved out and my mom still has it in the basement. She uses the treadmill and watches it daily. Walks 2-3 miles a day at 83! So it’s ... 35 years of daily use. Shit. These days they last five years and y’all get a new one.

You wonder when television sets are as big as walls, 12’x12’, how much will they cost.

To me it's not bragging about who's is bigger, I just like talking TVs. That and GFY is full of politics and I don't talk politics on boards.

This is a pic from 08' of my 106" screen and you can see my old Laserdisc collection by her feet too. I had LD before dvds came out.

growing up my mom had a 26" RCA console tv and a 13" in her bedroom in the 70's.

Oh, I know. That’s why the smiley faces. Just guys chatting about what size they have ;)

My folks had the same RCA television. Big console surrounded with real wood and no remote. It was in the playroom and my dad worked for RCA Music so I’m sure he got a good deal.

We had the 13” in our rooms with the rabbit ears! Rarely did we have to move them. I have a vague memory of a tv from the olden days, living on Long Island. 19”, black and white, rabbit ears and a handle on top to shlep the heavy thing around. It never moved and I wondered why you’d need to move it. Dusting around was fine as it sat on the stand with no space underneath.

until our tv breaks, we won´t be changing it... the Panasonic 42 inch plasma has great colour & perfect for the light coming in from the patio doors. In the bedroom we have a 36" lcd panasonic too... although, we bought this when lcd had just come out, so, was like $1500!

I love how they write in this article regarding the 85" 8k Samsung, "purchasing this tv at the moment is nothing other than giving you bragging rights"
