Did you actually read what is in there? Or are you just purposely misrepresenting it? Or are you just stupid?

It was a presentation (obviously) dealing with the current issues that the big 3 tech companies are dealing with right now.

It did not reveal any "plans".

It merely stated what has been happening. Conjectured as to why it has been happening and stated what the effects have been and how the tech companies have attempted to deal with it. It reaches the conclusion that they have NOT done very well with the balancing act that the situation has created.

The presentation correctly identified that in the past the tech companies were taking a more American-Centric position regarding free speech (no regulation) and have recently, because of pressure from Users, Government and Advertisers, moved towards a more Euoropean-Centric position (tighter regulation).

In the final slides it offers up 9 principles to KICK START the conversation as to what they should or should not be doing as they try to find the right balance to please users, government and their advertisers.

Don't Take sides.
Police tone, not content.
Enforce standards and policies clearly.
Explain the technology.
Improve communications.
Take problems seriously.
Positive guidelines.
Better signposts.

This is how problems should be dealt with. If you cannot discuss the problem then you cannot find a solution, it really is that simple.

The solution they arrive at may very well be more censorship, it could just as easily be less censorship. It will probably be somewhere between the 2.

But this presentation does NOT offer up a plan or a solution. It is merely the beginning of a discussion regarding the issues that the tech firms are facing.

If the discussion never gets started, a solution will never be reached.

The big tech companies are facing a big problem.. It's that they believe they are the answer to ending "unwanted conversation" "nationalism" "everyone having a voice" "meeting like minded people" "anger venting" on a "unprecedented scale" and redirecting everyone back to "trustworthy sources" such as "Washington Post, NY Times, etc"

It literally says exactly that. They want to control the narrative... Control the conversation. Control the voice. Control people.

IE. It also points out a Trump quote about them as "conspiracy theory" that has in fact been proven as FACT as an example of why they must step up...

Who should be responsible for censoring 'unwanted' conversation, anyway? Governments? Users? Google?

That is the basis of the presentation. They have a problem. Users want it to go a certain way, Governments want it to go a certain way, Advertisers want it to go a certain way. The Tech companies are caught in the middle and are floundering around trying to find an answer that will satisfy everyone.

That is what the presentation is about. It is not about their plan to censor the internet, it is about how do they satisfy all customers.
