Tumblr removed from App Store due to child porn
Tumblr’s app was booted out of the iOS App Store a few days ago due to an issue with child pornography getting its way past the app’s filtering technology.
https://techcrunch.com/2018/11/19/tu...hild-porn/amp/ There are loads of child porn on twitter as well, I wonder if they will give them the same treatment...Although porn is not a great percentage of the content on twitter. |

I'll bet Tumblr asked Apple to do this so they'd have an excuse to ban the porn.

In its updated statement, Tumblr said that while every image uploaded to the platform is “scanned against an industry database of child sexual abuse material” to filter out explicit images, a “routine audit” discovered content that was absent from the database, allowing it to slip through the filter. Although Tumblr says the content was immediately removed, its app continues to be unavailable on the App Store. It’s still available in the Google Play store for Android users, however.

Tumbler is effectively a porn app. It’s filled with garbage and shouldn’t be in the App Store if held to the same standards as everything else. Long overdue.

I always wondered how snap chat gets away with it. I believe it's know that though the images or videos are deleted to those who received them they are stored on Snapchats servers also how can you ignore that it's a platform for child pornography distribution.

Tumblr's been a reliable traffic source for many awms
This removal might have serious long-term consequences... What's next? Grindr and Tinder actually killing bot accounts? How will the dating industry survive?

Does anyone know anything about this database they are talking about? I presume it's something like MD5 hashes of the images that are cross referenced with user generated uploaded content so that it can be flagged before posting. Is something like this available to everyone or just the big social media companies?
