I lived on Topsail Island NC and absolutely loved it! The salt in the air did make thinks corrode outside pretty fast. Sand in the house was kind of a PITA but it was worth the views and having the beach just a steps away

Hoping to move to a beachfront property, sooner than later.

At the moment we´re about a mile away, but on a hill top, so we get to view about 20 miles north and south over the towns on the coast and of course 30 miles out to sea. Lovely to enjoy drinks on the roof terrace in the evening and watch the lights of the fishing boats out at sea.

It would be great to walk out of the home and onto the beach, enjoying for a morning swim in the med.

Hey Brian... I lived on the alley behind Ocean Front Walk aka the Boardwalk in Venice for about 3.5 years, and yes, I had stuff get rusty, but none of my electronics died. Also, if it was windy and I left windows open, I'd come home to sand everywhere. Another downside (there, at least) was the tourists in the summer--weekday mornings it would take me ~15 minutes to get to the nearest freeway, but on summer weekends it was more like 40 minutes.

The upside is I could hear waves breaking at night which I found very restful, and there were few tourists in the winter, and being Southern California what passes for winter here is better than most summers in England where I grew up... thanks to global warming we're down to about 1.5 seasons/year now.

As a teen I lived in Atlantic Beach Florida for a couple years. Right by the beach. Sand everywhere, canals with gators everywhere else and salt ruined my parents cars, fucked my bikes up, etc. Sand flees made the beach life kinda annoying. That's where Salt Life was created tho. Literally. (Not Jacksonville Beach like they claim, but whatever, I was there).

We moved back to NY when we had to mandatorily run north from hurricane Floyd, then it followed us north... And when we came back shit was fucked and the peer was gone without even being hit. Fuck all that. It was a fun experience while it lasted tho.

hey marco, how you doing? there are no waves where I lived on the beach in Texas and I did have to leave my bass amp on all the time so it would not corrode...and my car and my bed were always filled with sand

did you ever grow weed? first you do is put C02 in the room

Everything corrodes near the sea you cannot have things like galvanised steel grates all need to be stainless or rusts out only going to get a couple of years out of light duty.
As far as wires terminals go well depends on metals zinc coated and gal etc anything will be gone. Silver and copper will last longer but everything corrodes with salt in air.

There's a blackout here by the beach almost every year or 2x in a year. The salt air definitely affects metal and makes it corrode faster.

I lived in Marina Del Rey in the 80s. Block from the beach, lots of night life. Loved it, wouldn't live there now.

My house was in the waterfront with the beach in my backyard. Had buckets of water at the doors and towels for my feet. The humidity brought fleas and other bugs but traps and yearly spraying took care of that. I had a computer room with air filters for removing moisture and keeping it dry. All wires were sprayed with chemicals to stop rust.

I got a generator after the first hurricane and no power for five days. Used it twice but I felt protected just in case.

Every year I had to get a leak test because the house settling caused tiny cracks that let in moisture

I was far back from the water so erosion wasn’t an issue Every few years a house would lean and need major improvements to stop slipping into the ocean

I had one run in with them when we were camping. It was HORRIBLE! When I was in the Army I was stationed in Texas and my oldest son just graduated from basic training in Texas from the Air Force.

Live always close by the sea. Just wash your feet outside. No problem with my laptop, little rusty some connections. But before that becomes a problem i already have a new laptop, not 1 broke of the salt sea air. Coffee is a problem though.

I rent, don't have to paint or other problems. I would build on poles, the humid comes through the floor many times i noticed in beach bungalows around the globe.

I used to live near a beach in South Australia and everything was mint (especially in summer). But the salinity in the air was a big issue. Corroded many things including electronic devices.

the tap water where I live by the beach would give me a stomach ache. great coffee is important. I use a press and fresh ground beans with heavy whipping cream
