Does anyone remember this old school program, & is there a modern day equivalent?
I can remember back in 1999, I had a little free standalone program, which I *think* was called 'Mosaic'?
You gave it a picture, say the face of a pornstar, and then gave it a folder of stills taken from her films, and the program would use the 'stills' files, to recreate the original face pic (with varying degrees of success... IIRC Photoshop may have offered this too at one point, but I'm really looking for a free version, as its just to be used on one single occasion... Any ideas guys? Thanks X |

I think may have been called Photomontage or Photomosaic. I used it a few times but there didn't seem any practical use for what it did. I wasn't using it for porn though, I think it had a default folder with images.
IIRC that was the era of Kai's Power Tools/Goo and Poser and other quite interesting graphic tools. I realize this is zero help looking for a free one though, but that technique is probably relatively easy to do these days.

All I want it for today, is to take a photo of granite sign of my towns name, and to recreate the name using different shots from around the town, Just to be used as a 'one off' on my youtube channel to celebrate a years anniversary of a new 4K video of the town and surrounding area, being uploaded each day without fail. So no, not porn, but it was easier to describe it that way. I've found this online https://www.photo-mosaic.co.uk/ But Id like to have full control over it myself, to easily run a few different versions to see which suits me best... But this IS the thing though Perhaps someone else has an idea of something current? |

I was going to waffle nostalgically about old software and the the good old days being better than today, but out of curiosity I was searching for commandline tools or scripts to do the job, and found this on Ask Ubuntu, ironically, since it's a Windows program:
https://www.andreaplanet.com/andreamosaic/ I'm not sure if the free version is enough for what you need, and it seems to have small watermark in the corner, but maybe that's no problem.
