check out Alibris (free shipping, but depending on where you live you'll still have to pay import fees) and Powell's. higher shipping costs but better selection and some handy recommended lists if you're in the mood to explore new-to-you authors
Barnes and Noble are also great, apparently. I only ordered from them once and the books never arrived, but getting a refund was super-hassle-free. that was probably just a fluke, mail delivery in my neck of the woods leaves a lot to be desired. great search tool as well, for discovering new stuff there's also Books A Million but I find they tend to highlight mostly mainstream high-profile 'knowns' so if you don't know exactly what title/author you're looking for, not a great site for browsing new stuff interested in what others rec, as I order a lot of books myself and like stumbling across hidden gems. I read my books hard (some of my favs I'm on my 2nd or 3rd copy) and while I have a local library and they're always willing to order from the main library in the city for me, the selection isn't very expansive happy reading
