Yeh, I do 16:8 in cycles. Not to sound dramatic, but indeed "life changing."
I find it MUCH easier to start if you have already been eating clean for a stretch of time (I only need a few days) and also low carb. Going from a "normal carb" diet into fasting is incredibly difficult, your body will not be happy. But low carb, you barely notice.

Well Ramadan just started, so yeah I'll be fasting for a month. But my fasting is different in that I'm not a broke bum, so I'll be eating at night.
My tip for you: get a job, pay your child support so your kid can eat first and THEN feed yourself with what's left.

No way, I'm a starving artist because it is much more fulfilling than working a 9-5 job. My 3rd book is free on Amazon this week, you'd like if it you could think deeper than fried chicken and rap lyrics.

I have done a 7 day fast before (about 10 years ago), after which I gradually introduced fruit juices, fruit and vegetables / vegetarian for 6 months, then added chicken and fish, up until today when I'm back on shit diet of red meat, sugars, fried and fast foods.
Doing the fast helped me quit smoking cold turkey without experiencing any nicotine withdrawals (due to hunger pangs been stronger), it was as if I had never smoked before. Also the biggest contributing factor to significantly repairing my metal health, I think due to allowing body to rest and discovering a whole new metal clarity and focus, changed my outlook. Don't have the same reasons for doing again but I am considering it, just as a means to kick-starting eating clean again, as it's like a break that allows your body to get rid of all the toxins and crap inside you before rebooting fresh with clean lifestyle. So as Sly said, literally life-changing!

Also, how I write a book is, I blaze through it as fast as possible and then paste it, chapter by chapter into the AI and ask it to spot plot holes or things I missed. Then I refine it by asking it to re-flow the sentences to be better read as a speech. I think that is one of my secrets of how to use the AI to refine your work as an author. It makes a bunch of errors that I have to go back and fix, but the re-flowing helps in place of an actual human editor. Last time I hired an editor, they charged me $1000 dollars and I STILL got a manuscript back with spelling mistakes and tense errors. AI does not make those mistakes, but the AI will occasionally double up a sentence. Human editors, from the 3 I've worked with, really do help, but they come with their own mistakes. The AI, while not as helpful, spots mistakes like an eagle and fixes them, but the AI doesn't know how a story works, so it is a trade-off. AI strengths: -spelling -tense -sentence reflow AI weakness: -doesn't know jack shit about stories -doesn't know what you're trying to say Human editor strengths: -knows storytelling -can figure out the hidden messages you're trying to convey Human editor weakness: -fucks up spelling as much as you do, if not more -sloppy with the tense -hit and miss with sentence reflow. I find, the secret to good writing, is being able to read your work aloud and have it flow nicely. Flowing in your mind is deceiving, because your brain processes words differently, imo, than your ears. If you can read something AND hear it and it sounds smooth, then that's good writing. The AI and human editors can reflow things in ways you didn't think about, but the AI is much faster and much cheaper. 2/3 editors I hired felt like major ripoffs as I still had to go back through my old books and edit them for spelling mistakes. The first editor I hired from recommendations off some writing forum, she charged me $600 and barely did any work. Total ripoff. Lots of editors made massive bank back in the day by doing sloppy editing and then getting people who didn't really care to be writers to give them good reviews. Lots of one-and-done self-published authors who want to be writers but they only have 1 book in them. That's fine, because some people only have 1 story to tell, but an editor that works with those one-and-done'rs can get tons of positive reviews from people who aren't serious about a writing career, so they don't even check if their editor did a good job. Their priority was just getting their one book done while they have a totally different career.

Is the book like that too? Reading the description and then knowing how much you hate everything non-european because of what you admit here, is the book a bamboozle rightard recruitment tool under the cover of a book that seems like it may be about something else entirely?

I don't hate non-europeans at all, I just yank your chain because you're hellbent on left vs right politics when we're ALL under the yoke of the oligarchs and their politician puppets. The coolest and richest character is a brown guy in chapter 7. The book is completely non-political and there is nothing even remotely close to a political opinion. Just read it, it is only 35,000 words and you could finish it in a couple of hours. It is a work of intense emotional energy from me.

Mediterranean diet for past couple years, except for when I fuck up and get Thai food once a week. Or sometimes sushi.
It's not really a "diet" but more like a really smart way to eat. Red meat used to be my main protein source but not anymore. It's more of a moderation thing now, still have it often enough to not miss it, but sparingly. Also been low sodium for about 4 years. And I try to absolutely avoid highfructose corn syrup, that shit is evil and should be banned in the US. |

For most people, it's very very difficult for them to do low-carb. It's not a big deal for me because I don't eat all that garbage to begin with. ;-)

I do intermittent fasting which basically just means skipping breakfast apart from black coffee (with stevia instead of sugar).
Sitting at a computer all day makes it really hard to keep the weight off otherwise.

I basically don't get fatter or skinnier no matter how much I pig out, exercise, sit around doing nothing, or diet, I yo-yo like 10-15 lbs. I did do low-carb once and lost a bunch of weight but I started bonking out real hard where my brain was zonked out from no carbs.

It was my normal meal time, yet I wasn't going to eat because I was doing 18:6. I had no idea what to do with myself. It just felt weird. It was as if everything about me was saying "okay right now we eat and then we go on to the next thing." But my discipline was saying "not only are we not hungry, we are not eating, even though this is when we eat." It took me about 3 weeks to get over this. It was a really bizarre feeling at the time and one of my more odd takeaways from doing intermittent fasting. This also made me realize how much of our time is spent around meals. It might be socially, it might be planning, it might be picking up groceries from the store, or even might be simply thinking about. And that was crazy. The thinking! You no longer have your day thinking "what should I have for dinner." There's no dinner! With that said, I think it's fantastic. Just an amazing experience. I feel great when I do it. Real clarity, tons of free time, the food that I do eat I make sure is top notch, less time in the bathroom (sorry Currently!,) less bloating and other digestive issues. I don't think it's for everyone, but for me, it's great.

It was my one and only time fasting... Hard for the first few days but then strangely became enjoyable, increase in energy and efficiency more mental than physically, could have gone longer but felt objectives had been achieved.

Definitely got the "high" from low-carb, but the crash was insane. I'd argue that I had a worse and less manageable crash from having zero carbs in my system than coming off a 2-3 day coke and booze bender. On coke and booze, you come down gentle but painful, headache, sweats, shitty sleeps, needing takeout food. But when you come down from llow-carb, it is like your brain is totally empty. At least with a hangover and coke, you feel negative. With the low-carb thing, I felt, like my brain was empty. It was a blank space. Like I could sit and just blankly stare out in the world and feel nothing. That's why low carb is so hard for me. Also, tired of talking to people when I try low carb and they bleat like morons: "But he died of heart failure!!!"

When I'm hungry and just need to stuff my face and know I'll have something tasty, I have to admit, a BigMac meal at McDonald's always hits the spot. Although, they shrank the burger so much, I feel like two Big Mac's need to be ordered! The fries and the drinks have either stayed the same, or even grown... but more ice.

Going to make a GFY food thread soon, this ginger coconut chicken meal I made tonight was spec-friggen-tacular. GFY is basically old bored guy blog now with some adult news and grumpy old men political bickering now... kind of cozy actually.

I did 14:10 basic fasting 4-5 times a week a year ago, for a few months and it indeed helped me to get rid of 80% of the remainings of my belly. Did not gain it back, just a tiny bit during the recent winter.
I am doing it again, but now trying to do 16:8 , although it seems to be too much for me. I combined it with 3 serious group trainings a week and it is very hard like this, but very efficient too. If I do a training in the late afternoon / evening, and can fall asleep without eating, I won. This fasting is a bit hyped these days, but it indeed works. Side-note: my primary goal was to lose stubborn fat from belly/lower back but also to help my digestive system - and it worked like magic too.

I do mostly 17/7 daily...started at 16/8 over 10 years ago and shortened the eating window over time. Some days it is 18/6.
Also, I tried a 3 day fast last year(only drank mineral water) and felt fantastic afterwards, so I am gonna do that once or twice per year. It feels like when you restart a windows computer that has been running for months without a break. Fasting and eating less carbs and processed foods overall is the best thing one can do for their health and longetivity.

From personal experience, I would recommend talking to an expert, such as a nutritionist, for example.
He can create a plan tailored for you based on your blood and urine results, or any health issues you might have. Then, he'll come up with a personalized diet plan that not only helps you drop the weight but also keeps you feeling energized. I saw the results in just a week or two. Yes, I had to fast as well, but the main thing was drinking lots of weird types of tea and Origano oil, for instance. And no, I was not hungry all the time. I cannot imagine not having a breakfast similar to what he recommended nowadays. Good luck.
