Besides they ripped you off - a kidney on the market is actually worth more. So yes I would be very mad. According to the widely used, although somewhat hard-to-find-credit-for figures, a heart is worth around $1 million in the US. Livers come in second, worth about $557,000 and kidneys cost about $262,000 each. I've never understood why it is illegal to sell your own bodyparts in the USA, but it is totally the idea that it is appropriate for a family member to be pressured to give up a literal part of their body without the family being able to compensate them in any way. You can legally do more for someone who gives you a ride to the airport.
