Having few words/keywords on the website can harm you with Google. There has to be a careful balance and a great deal of thought in order to grow the site past your competitors who are likely using the same keywords you would think you should do. Google would have no option but to rank them higher than you thereby less traffic for your site.

The other point is that Google's algorithm needs to understand what your site is about in order to rank it. That requires smart keywords and a well put together site map.
