News Pornhub to Require Criminal Background Checks for All Content Partners Beginning in 2026 😲

has announced a major new policy aimed at strengthening community safety. Starting next year, all new creators on the platform will be required to undergo criminal background checks, with existing creators following suit in 2026.

The company says the move is part of its effort to create “a safer, more trustworthy environment” and will cover all content partners globally. The process will reportedly be free and securely handled, though details about what types of offenses may disqualify creators have not yet been shared.

This marks one of Pornhub’s most extensive safety initiatives to date, following years of reforms to improve moderation and verification standards in the adult industry.

Update: I’m happy to say Pornhub has responded to our story with some clarifications on their new policy.

This is only being implemented for Content Partners (production companies/studios) who operate channels on Pornhub. This does not apply to individual Models or Pornstars. Additionally, we’d also like to note that we’re not interested in minor criminal charges. These background checks for Content Partners (production companies/studios) are more concerned with detecting trafficking, fraud, and other major red flags that would signal a potentially poor business partner.

More than half the porn industry will be excluded by this move. Obviously, this is another power play and its purpose is to financially hurt the studios and producers as much as possible. The best guess, it's part of a role out to replace people with AI.

There is a huge underground economy in Canada.

The guy I worked for who ran a moving company had tons of convictions over 20+ years of being an insane criminal and people trust him with moving their houses all the time. He makes great money! $300 an hour sometimes and then pays guys $25 an hour out of that.

Moving for a living is a tough life, lots of those guys can barely move without a ton of drugs and liquor in their systems.
