Best Sedo/domain strategy?

Must admit that I'm more and more into domains lately since I picked up a very nice domain for a small price last week. BUT, what is the best strategy on domain places like Sedo? Some have listing prices but most are just way off their value, while most accept a random offer. Do you just keep upping the offers until they give in or what?

and, what to do with domains that are unlisted? I've had a couple targeted for a few years, but they haven't sold to me yet :/ Do you just email people with offers or do you ask them if they would like to sell etc?

Here to learn

I have bought quite alot from sedo lately.

Normaly they are listed around 2-3k, i post an offer ~150-200 and we end around 4-500 which is a fair price for most of them.
What I hate most, is all the retards that list the domains and forget about it - which means the bids expire over and over again.

I only had success buying 1 domain that wasnt listed for sale. Just did a whoise on the domain and mailed the owner
Most times they want insane amounts for the domains. Guess they still think all domains are being sold for millions like they watch on the TV

Email and ask. Just don't say you don't have a lot of money or you don't really need the domain. We don't even waste time with emails like that.

Sedo doesn't email you to notify you of bids?

How? I thought if a domain is listed at a certain price and you post an offer below it you would be told the offer is too low and you are required to enter a big of at least the figure stated.

At least, this is what happens on the uk extension of Sedo.
