VOD Trial - 3 weeks, 12K hits, $13.41 later...

Fully cobranded site, 190 signups, 7 sales, one of the Top 3 VOD programs out there.

Earnt $13.41.

Is VOD dead?

The hits are there, the branded site looks the business, people are signing up.

Why are they not buying? Not teh dreaded toobs?

I don't think changing VOD sponsor would make a scrap of difference, they all look pretty much the same.

12K hits is surely enough to prove the model doesn't work with my particular traffic no?

A lot of the time, I think people who sign up for VOD sites that give x of free minutes, sign up use the minutes and then change IP and email and sign up for another free x minutes etc.

Eventually they will run out of IP addresses (hopefully) and may start spending money (or move to another VOD site). I don't know about your specific traffic but I think the business model is ok, but it is geared for long term rather than short term gain.

Been sending traffic for just over 3 weeks.

That's plenty of time for the free signups to wank away their 10 minutes and decide whether to buy more minutes or not.

I would say my traffic must not be the right kind, but the same program has been going on a competitor's site for years and years, so obviously they think the limited amounts they are earning from it are ok, or just have no idea how to monetize their traffic.

10K unique hits from that site should bring in around the $500 mark going by 6 other sponsors I have on there.

VOD is a long term issue, people sign up , get their 10 min and then go to a Tube site because these days the quality of the VOD sites videos seem to be on par with Tube sites

that s where you wrong, VOD traffic takes time to kick in
i have placed my vod links ( custom vod from aebn ) and left it at the same spot since 2004... never pushed much more traffic to it and my sales have been going up and been steady after that

you have to be patient with VOD, i call it retirement money, if you re looking for a quick buck, push traffic to some PPS site

what don't you get? It was already mentioned in your other thread about VODs that it's about LONG term income...190 signups, 3 weeks..meh you need thousands of signups and a much longer period to generate steady long lasting income. IMHO you seem far too inpatient to be pushing VODs.

You CAN'T push Traffic to VOD. You should only throw up text links to VOD.

VOD is to only for some surfers. Some surfers will like it, some won't. Expecting thousands quickly from any VOD is foolish. Throw up a text link, don't worry about it and watch your payout grow.

As others have said, VOD/ pay per view is a long term investment.

3 weeks is way too short a test period. It will take months, maybe years for the earnings to start accumulating.

If you want to try a few of the other sites, they are all here:

Tried sending niched pornstar traffic? Or what about advertising them as something like "the biggest online steaming dvd store"?

Are you targeting your traffic to the correct niches/Stars/Studios?

What promo tools are you using?

Have you spoken to your affiliate manager about this? You know your traffic, they know their site and promo tools.

I use hotmovies and i have had better results, granted with much less traffic.

This is a bad month for me as im only doing 1:58. Usually get around 1:30-1:40 a month. Its true also my income has been growing but its a year to year thing. I do want to to point out that i send less than 4000 uniques per month.
