Glare free monitor? Problem here
About to put together a new office in another room... lots of windows, very well lit. The problem I have is if I set my desk up to avoid glare.. then my back is to the door & for some reason that bugs me.
I'd rather have the sun on my back but then i wouldn't be able to work in the glare it creates... Does anyone here use anything to eliminate glare? Do they really work? |

No monitor can deal with direct sunlight.
get vertical or horizontal blinds.. You have can them turned so they are blocking the sun but not completely blocking the view.. |

Look at getting tint added to the windows instead.

According to fengshui experts, it is inauspicious to have your back to the door... which might explain why you feel uncomfortable. A reccomendation by fengshui experts is to have a mirror in front of you so you have a view of the door even with your back turned.

Tint the Windows. I did it at my last house and it worked out great. Will cut down on your energy bill as well. Check it out, installation is fairly reasonable but if you are even partially handy you should be able to set it up pretty easily and cheaply your self. I did three windows for I think $300... materials were only like $100.

Also as sly said it will help on energy bills and if you poke around your utility company and hell even ask your accountant, you may find that you can qualify for either rebates and or deductions.

I had the same problem in my old office. I tinted the windows myself using the mirror type stuff. Worked fine.

Get blinds and curtains. This way you can adjust your amount of light as they day goes on.

Tinting can look odd from the outside so I wouldn't do it unless its a small window on the back of your house.
I had a house with 1 side of 3 stories worth of windows that all opened up into the main living area.. We didn't want massive drapes or blinds so we tinted the windows.. from the outside it looked black but because it was uniform it looked good.. Often anyways when it is darker inside the house then it is outside the window will appear black anyways.. But if only 1 window is tinted you will be able to tell.. You might want to think of putting the desk perpendicular to the window and door.. So the windows are to your left or right and your door is to your other side.. this is how I am positioned in my office and the sun does not cause a problem.. Blinds really work well tho.. You can block the direct sun but not your view outside.. |
