I worked on a ship that went to Ocho Rios, Cayman, and Cozumel for about 18-months.

I pretty much know everything there is to know about the Western Caribbean LOL.

Okay -- here is what I recommend doing for those ports;

Ocho Rios -- Get out of Ocho Rios quickly, it is a tourist trap shit hole. Go tubing down the white river (a lot of fun). Make sure your guide is George (of the Jungle), he is cool. If you have time, go around the botanical gardens in Ocho Rios, very pretty and loads to see / learn.

Cayman -- Not much to do on Cayman. I would recommend doing a dive with the sting rays, and then chilling on the beach.

Cozumel -- Diving at Palancar Gardens & Divers Paradise. If you fancy getting out of town, hire a jeep and drive round the island (takes about 2 hours). Stop and have a drink / eat / swin at Playa Bonita on the east coast of the island. If you want to eat, go to Guido's downtown -- it is amazing.

Hit me up if you need more tips.

I have been on one cruise and it was the time of my life! Best thing to do is befriend one of the staff and ask them where the go to places are on the islands. The whole week we were on our cruise we had the drummer from one of the bands as our personal tour guide.

I'm planning on going to Cozumel this weekend. I'll let you know what looks good there.

Been to Cayman Islands once before on a cruise, it's a beautiful place, and if you're adventurous enough, bring your rollerblades or rent a bicycle and cruise around the island North to South. It's a great experience (we did it). Other than that, the beaches are nice, but there's not much else to do there.

If you haven't done one before, make it a short excursion in case you get sick or don't like it. Nothing worse than being stuck in one place if you can't leave for several days.

Other than that, cruises are awesome! Watch out for the Norvo virus.

I've been on two, but both to Mexico. I liked them overall... but the food could have been better and the entertainment was cheesy. But if you just want to go to another country and check it out go for it.

PS. Do all of the things they tell you NOT to do. The seadoos, boat trips etc are awesome

We are going to - Cozumel Mexico ,Cayman Islands and Ocho Rios Jamaica.

What are the must see spots?

I only hope you did not book Carnival.

Beyond that:

Shopping: Cozumel has some great shopping, especially jewelry. The same can be said for Ocho Rios but gold is usually a little cheaper there. Grand Cayman is usually the more expensive of the 3 for shopping but if you like cigars, pick yourself up some "Cayman Crowns." Also the Tortuga Rum there is most excellent and worth bringing a bottle or two home. In most places, NEVER pay the asking price.

Things to do: Avoid the tourist beaches in Jamaica as well as any of the boating activities near the beaches. A lot of pushy drug traffic around there, yes even on the boats. Dunn's River Falls is still worth the time though. Snorkeling and diving are better in Cozumel and Grand Cayman. The ruins outside of Cozumel are OK but they will take away your entire port stay and IMHO there are way better things to do. Don't get drunk and walk off the pier at Fat Tuesdays...<----Not that I have EVER done such a thing. ;) In Grand Cayman, take the time to go out to the Stingray Sandbar. It's an amazing experience and will still allow pleny of time for other activities while there. Maybe even visit the turtle farm in Hell and send a few postcards from there. Cozumel and Grand Cayman are 2 of the better dive locations in the Western Caribbean. Depending on how much time you have in port, you can never go wrong with a sunset catamaran cruise in any tropical location.

LMAO - I second that notion!

Also....these are my tips because I'm weird....
I would like to suggest packing bottled water to use for brushing your teeth, that way you don't run such a high risk of getting the cruise ship germies. LOL
Don't forget the hand sanitizer!
Cozumel sights to see are the ruins and the sunset, all you can drink beer and margarita cruise as it is a lot of fun.

Cruises are the best way to travel! As soon as you go on one you'll understand when I say the FOOD is always the best part haha. You're guaranteed to gain at least 10lbs when you go on a cruise. Have fun!

I have been on that same cruise a couple of times. I do not care for Jamaica but the rest is awesome. In the caymans, do the stingray sandbar feeding excursion. It is a blast.

Cya in a few days bud. I will give you more details in Phoenix.

I went on that exact cruise also and it was great.

In Jamaica we did the Dunns River Falls and I liked it. Would do it again. Locals were scary people.

In the Caymans had a snorkeling excursion booked but was canceled so we did a trolley tour which got in a wreck and came within a foot of crushing my leg, other than that it was just ok. It's nice to walk around the city and 7 mile beach if you like beaches.

In Cozumel did a buggy tour of the whole island, was fun. Got a shirt at the pee-pee station. The mayan ruin trip would have been nice but it took 8 hours so we passed it up this time.

I have pictures online if you wanna see. icq is below
