Off to San Fran on Wed. Not for adtech apparently, medical crap.

I get to head down to San Fran, Wed-Fri with a lovely Doctor appointment on Thursday and purpose of the trip. Not sure if they will keep me or not yet. Need to plan out a surgery so I am meeting with the surgeon - though also got to have him deal with some skin cancer as well (which should be minor).

Was curious why some hotels had strange sold out dates that made no sense, now that I see adtech is going on I guess - perhaps that is why.

PS anyone know approx amount a cab should cost from say the Wharf to St Mary's Hospital (which is next to golden gate park Stanyan street side)?

Yeah I checked their first.
1. They are booked solid on Thursday night.
2. It is a historical building so this also means that handicapped access can be very limited.

20 bucks there and 20 back isnt to bad, especially since no worries about parking either.

Well I already know I have some skin cancer (not serious type) near an old wound, apparently skin cancer can grow in scar tissue around wounds that did not heal properly. Just not sure how much, so there will be more biopsies.

Then of course I need to get consult about other surgery beyond the skin/wound issue. I am highly considering getting both legs removed, yet since it is not a medical necessity it is slightly tricky.

I've had a few colon biopsies in recent months. Those are fun too!

I am sure you will.
Murphy's law always seemed slanted towards me, if it can happen it usually will. Yet I also seem to come with the gift of living to regret everything. I can catch something that is super duper rare, then also get over it despite the odds being highly slanted against me.

Only real issue with this one so far has been assorted relative feedback/flack about my choice to look into a dual amputation.

I know the feeling...every time I thought I was gonna die, it seemed that life had decided to force me to stay to the bitter end so I could be punished! lol

On the dual amputation...I would say that the flack your getting about it is just normal. When I first read that previously in this thread, my natural reaction was: "NO!!!!!"

It's hard for us people who have use of our limbs to imagine NOT having them. So it's hard for me to wrap my mind around it. But you know what's best for you. And after I sat here and gave it some thought I realized that "yes" it would probably be much easier on you to have them out of your way.

Damn that sounded strange...but I suppose it's true.

The only worry I would have for you is that something can always go wrong in any surgery. And that is a damn major one for sure. So give it lots of thought first (though I know you already have)

I just get a whole bunch of "hope you really thought about this" or "I would think about that before doing it", both is sort of a no shit answer and is really like WTF who would just rush in and do something like that without giving it serious thought before even bringing it up with anyone.

Was not like a 1 month, hell a year is laughable thought processes and thinking about all of it. Have given in much though over the course of several years before I even spoke to anyone about it. Then I gave my wife a bit over a year of her knowing my thoughts and getting hers before other relatives were even spoken too.

I know for most the idea of just giving up a limb, hell even a small appendage like a toe would be on the insane side - if it was not a medical necessity at least. I also know there are some that really do cling to the ideas that people can eventually be "fixed" or whatnot. That medical technology has advanced, strong results in stem cells, so forth. Realistically that will not be for my generation of the paralyzed, yet the very near futures - oddly I may be in the group of a last of something, never gave that much thought.

I also need to check with university and such to see if any use can be gotten from the parts. Well I know skin is always in high demand, but not sure about anything else on it. Wonder if someone transplanted a paralyzed toe onto a non paralyzed person, would it remain so since my damage was done at the spinal level? OK sorry people - that is some of the shit my mind randomly thinks about.

PS if airlines charge people who weigh more for tickets, can I get a discount or perhaps some extra lbs in baggage since I would be a super light passenger?
