For those who've had their confidence shaken by these major celebrity deaths ........

on the positive side, Al Molinaro, owner of Al's Drive In on Happy Days before selling the business to Arnold(Pat Morita, Mr Miyagi) celebrated his 91st birthday today or yesterday.

so all the big names of your youth aren't leaving.

As the years go by we are going to see more and more celebrities dying off and it's going to make people think "why are they all dying?!" But really, we need to think of when celebrities really first started popping up... TV started getting popular and more common in the 1950s and 1960s. Those stars are now dying. TV and movies picked up even more in the 1970s, and so on. The rate of "celebrity deaths" will continue to pick up. Not to mention the various new sorts of celebrities that pop up every decade... movie stars, musicians, TV stars, powerful political figures, sex icons, etc.

Agreed. There were fewer superstars pre-70s, and now they're all aging and getting diseases and becoming human. It's really sad...and maybe the reason it bothers us all so much is that it forces us to face our own mortality.
