				 | It's dependent on how good your IP -> location database is, not the programmer.

Will all things considered. I think there are a good amount of folks on here needing this, and don't know how to go about. (This is from companies I have dealt with) | |

				 | The coding part is extremely easy, most languages have API's to connect/fetch the data from the database. The hard part is getting the best quality database for converting the IP to a location. WG

That's why I usually just do country or county based with MaxMind's free tool. The pay-for-updates one is usually spot on. Borked's usually puts me in Northern California; the most recent MaxMind (actually 06-1-09+) puts me just a city away.

				 | Thanks for all the votes guys - yeah, geoip is kinda easy, but I launched a webservice to help others that are less adept and it's taken off like nuts. So I immersed myself in that whole stuff and now loving geospatial databases (amazing shit can be done with postrgeSQL on this) and the such and somehow became a book reviewer for anything netgeo (2 books so far),. Amazing what a micro niche can bring ;) Anyways, lmk when you're online Omar - I'm off out for dinner in the next half hour, but I'll be around all weekend+

				 | I can only use the Lite db, which is auto-updated on the 5th of every month, so should be the same. Maxmind restrict their paid stuff to pure javascript for my webservice, so imposs to offer that.
