Hardcore the norm in US

In the BBC documentary about the porn industry with Louis Theroux, a girl from the UK said that in Europe, the porn scenes are much longer and "much stronger." She said, Europeans want "vicious hardcore sex" while in the US, they don't try and kill their female talent.

Now, that was a long time ago. They were shooting "Debbie does Dallas" at that time (Louis documentary was shot in 1998).

But I have to wonder... The US is one of the most vicious hardcore markets today.
What got it to change?

If the companies only studied their customers and maybe ran focus groups.
If you anonymously ask somebody what they want to see in a porn movie, they might tell you they want the hard stuff.
But I have my doubts they actually enjoy watching it.

Gangbang scenes with a dozen guys screaming like crazy and fucking the shit out of girl that you can barely see because of the male asses in the video?
Do any producers actually watch their own porn? If they do, they must be gay.

The market is totally out of sync with the market, if you ask me.

There are people for every single niche out there. Hard to say that one nationality likes some type of porn more then another since every person generally has their own thing that makes them hot.

On another note, I fucking love the louis theroux documentaries.

I believe part of the change was the liberalization of the courts in the 70's. Also, I believe there is a decrease in sensitivity to what is hardcore as you have more exposure to porn.

They're always gonna try to push the boundaries just because as the audience becomes used to hardcore scenes, they become boring. Pushing the boundaries makes them stand out, much like any other niche.

You don't need that stuff, you have sales data. You can put a site up and send traffic. If the hardercore didn't sell no one would make it.

But I do agree it has gone gay.

I don't personally believe this is reality, but a while ago an affiliate stated "no dicks, no clicks" and as long as most affiliates believe that, they will not aggressively join and promote softer content programs.

I started http://www.BoobieMovies.com specifically because I don't always want to see dicks in my porn. I don't think I'm alone on this, but once a belief is out there, it is tough to change the status quo.

I think affiliates are missing out on sales by limiting themselves to the "no dicks, no clicks" strategy.
