!!!Watching "Falling Down" - More Hilarity LOL!!!

I'm watching FALLING DOWN with Micheal Douglas. Here's another movie that doesn't even try to hold back the laughs. Somehow he is stuck on the Hollywood Freeway in Downtown LA, but ends up in East LA either before or after Korea Town (I guess) and then takes a route through Hollywood so he can meet a cartoon White Supremicist who runs shop on Hollywood Boulevard because it's the shortest route to Venice Beach!

Feel free to correct me here. It's on Encore right now.

P.S. this was right after the 92 riots so it was okay to piss all over everyone except black people. Take special note of that

And to make things worse, I moved out to Los Angeles about 2 weeks before the riots broke out, so between this and the riots it's sort of like the same traumatic effect as remembering your birth!

It's actually fascinating that you can film a movie politically correct that pisses all over most ethnic groups. A little scary too.

I'm at the scene where the Mexican gangsters can hit everything and everyone except the nerd who's on the telephone! And by the way, he was sitting on a rock staring at a little pre-pubescent, mexican girl before this shit started, but they didn't make an issue out of that when they came after his empty briefcase LOL

the most disturbing thing about this movie is tuesday weld letting everyone see her whale out! She was one of the hottest pieces of ass that ever lived. More trauma! Now I'm a fucking mental mess!

now i'm at the part where the only one who knows how to use a L.A.W. is the little black boy. Yet his sly cleverness easily accepts that he can't see the cameras for the movies being shot because otherwise he'd be a BAD LITTLE BLACK BOY!

I can't remember the places they named him to be walking through...
just remember 'Pedagaster'(sp?) mentioning "gang land"...
but yeah, the start does kinda look like a downtown ramp...

I don't remember him going anywhere that looked like hollywood.. only areas that look like south of the 10 areas. Crenshaw n whatnot. So yeah I think it does match pretty well to the real path he'd have to take. Cept for sure would be a lot more black people

I know exactly where the car stalled, but his route is riduclous, and the map scene they pull back from to cover up.

Actually, at the time this was filmed. I'm not sure the white queers would have done much better on the Boulevard than the White Supremicist. That was before the do over!

What's funny is that there is an army surplus store on the torrance border where I bought a small plastic New England Patriots helmet for my desk when I first moved out here. This was the Drew Bledsoe error, but the atmosphere was much different than this movie

Okay so where was he going since he lives in Venice or wherever his old hag mother lived and he left his car in downtown LA since he was working for the defense industry?

It's not just Compton and it's not as bad as people want to make it out to be, just like Harlem never was, but I wouldn't be putting up a shop that had nazi flags in the backroom. It might offend certain people if you get my point

really? i thought his transformation was just as dramatic as the protaganist's. if i recall correctly, in the beginning, his boss said he's not a man since he doesn't cuss, etc.

Sure, but you know as well as I do they weren't trying to push his charactor, and believe me they could have easily cause they had one of the best actors who ever existed on this planet to do it. This was hollywood doing what they do best, trying to be hip and being politically correct at the same time. I'm not even going to put a laughing smilile here

no question re: duvall. i've always felt that this was one of his better performances, so absolutely understated. his role is just as huge as the *main* character's but the viewer doesn't realize it. brilliant.

If you like Duval and haven't done so yet, watch THE APOSTLE. One of the greatest movies ever with some of the greatest acting.

For me the movie was about the fragility of the human mind and how people care so little about others.

The Douglas character just snapped. He seemed to be a normal guy with the " american dream " of having a wife, child and a steady job but for whatever reason he lost it all. On that day, in his mind, all he wanted to do was see his daughter on her birthday. As he abandons his car and starts walking each person or group he encounters treats him with callous disrespect as if he doesn't matter. Each encounter fuels his rage that goes unchecked from a mind that's snapped and is no longer capable of discerning right from wrong.

Only one person escapes him and that is the gardner who was using the pool at his bosses house and showed no disrespect towards the douglas character. The others asked for it.

If all the people he encountered along the way had treated him decently he may just have reached his destination without a problem. If someone along the way offered to help him he may have gotten there quicker.

It's all the assholes he encounters on his walk that clues you as to how he lost his mind. It's the way people treat others. With the way things are today and the stress we face this movie has as much or more relevance than it did when it first came out.

People should think about what they say and do to others. Your actions may seem harmless to you but may be accumulative to them. One more word may be just enough to send a decent man falling down.
