Simplest way to get divorced in Ontario?

and don't say "don't get married" -- I know! I'll never repeat that mistake. Fuck.

Anyways -- we don't have kids, have already settled all of the financial aspect of it, now we just need a piece of paper that says "sign here to be divorced now."

Seems like some lawyers charge you $1000+ to do this. Wtf?

If Vegas can make this happen via drive-thru, surely there's an easy way to get divorced here.

Help me out GFY!

why did you get married in the firstplace?

i guess when people take vows these days they dont mean them. or they just took them in the firstplace because they were losers/lonely and or didnt want the other person with someone else.

A divorce is a legal procedure which falls under the jurisdiction of the provincial government. A copy of a Divorce Certificate can be obtained from the court where the divorce was heard. The address and telephone numbers of the various court offices may be found on the Ministry of the Attorney General's website.

If you were divorced in Toronto, contact the Family Law Office of the Superior Court of Justice with the Ministry of the Attorney General at 416-327-5542 for further information.

If you choose not to use the services of a lawyer you may purchase the necessary forms from a stationery supply store or the Publications Ontario located at 880 Bay Street. You can also order publications on-line.

To help you choose a lawyer The Law Society of Upper Canada has a lawyer referral service. Legal Aid offices and Community Legal Clinics offer legal services in areas of law that affect people with low incomes. Clients who meet financial eligibility guidelines may be represented in court by clinic staff. Call ahead for an appointment at
416-979-1446.

If you do the legwork yourself, you can bring the price down to like $500

uhhh maybe because i dont like people who have commitment issues cussing out marriage?

i am PRO marriage, not the other way around.

you just have the facebook generation in this world (fools) who wouldnt know the difference between a working marriage or a working refrigerator yet they go around and call marriage a "mistake".

MetaMan: I'm pro marriage, pro love and all that good stuff, I'm just not pro MY marriage anymore. It's all good. People can still go out there and get married and give it their best shot. All the best to them! And people from ALL generations get divorced every day. Not just us of the "facebook" generation...
