Anyone using this?

I am starting to see a lot of commercials for it around here lately. In between all the cellular advertisements for almost every commercial break during prime time. At least we know the cell phone companies are not hurting.

I wish I could get here. Last time I saw an AT&T guy in the neighborhood I asked him and he looked it up on the computer in his truck and said that it was as close as the entrance to the community but not in the community yet. If you call AT&T all they will tell you is that it is not available yet but he could actually looked up a map of where the u-verse ran.

I've got it here in porn valley. Its OK. Would you believe they install a Motorola modem that only uses Wireless G? So I had to downgrade from my Linksys wireless N router.. lame.. and the little 2wire wireless adapters aren't so great.. I use Windows 7 on my main rig and they only offer a Vista driver.. it works but I lose connection constantly on that computer and an older winxp rig I tested.. on then off then on.. its drivin me nuts.. gonna work on a fix asap.. My macbook and iphone connect great however.

The TV service portion of it is cool... on demand movie lists are pretty cool.. anything on any of the pay channels like HBO, Cinemax, etc you can watch any of those flicks anytime you want as well as whatevers on atm...the DVR is cool..

I've had it for a few years now and it's pretty solid. Net rarely ever goes down, router has battery backup so that + laptop = surfing the net when power is out in the neighborhood. The 4 lines of DVR (4 reg channels, 2 reg + HD, or HD + HD) is definitely nice...I don't think I've ever had a case where I was recording more than it could handle at a time. I also get home phone with it which has been decent too. The net I get is 12 mbps and I may consider upgrading to 24 even though 12 is probably sufficient for most people. If you do go with them, don't get it online...talk to someone on the phone or if they're selling door-to-door in your area like they did here when they were first offering, then try to deal with them...I've gotten discounts now 3 times between the initial door-to-door guy and the 2 times I've called AT&T since to update something on my account.

Overall I'm satisfied. The ONLY kicker is that being in San Diego and a Padres fan, I don't get the Padres channel on it since they have an exclusive deal with one of the cable companies here. Figures they're now doing good and have Dick Enberg as an announcer...didn't miss not hving that channel initially but now I do.
