"lightseek.biz" Browser Hijacker got me & could be widespread - GoFuckYourself.com

Seems alot of people incl me have got this nasty little browser hijacker lately. Almost seems programmed to go into heavy operation today November 12.

Google: lightseek.biz
already 1080 entries most all from today.

Havent seen em peddling porn yet. The site lightseek.biz now has no dns but, it is just the most prevalent. They have a wonderland of sites for you to visit including phoney virus sites with nasty multiple popup windows with dialogue buttons that don't close on either click. All the old fun stuff.

I can currently only go thru Google if I copy the shortcut and c&p it in to a new browser.

I seen signs the last few weeks but today this bastard got tenacious. It is jerking me now at almost every site I visit. I wonder how widespread this is as I see stats down in areas that make me think surfers are getting
jerked around perhaps in large numbers. It jacks you a couple seconds after you hit the page so the site gets the same impressions. Your bounce rate skyrockets and ctr drops. Could it be widespread?

Appears to affect IE and Firefox but not Chrome

Am running some aps now.

First) a full scan with F-Prot. (Best virus realtime protection imo - YEAH RIGHT! it didn't get this bad boy did it) F-Prot is currently finding all kinds of stuff so that is encouraging but I see it has not so far removed this hijacker.

2nd) From googled page: "lightseek.biz keeps popping up on multiple windows"

Guy says to install and run these spyware programs in order:

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
SuperAntispyware
AdAware
Spybot Search & Destroy

I have a giant size host file but I guess they get outdated as these guys quickly get new domains.
lightseek.biz is registered to a Russian address.

Anyone else got this bad boy? More to come.

IE 7 right now. Been meaning to join everyone else and install Firefox but now maybe I'll go with Chrome first as they say that is not affected.

BTW, I was shocked to see IE only used by 5% of surfers now days.

Yeah it really is a pile of crap. hehe But up till now it was ok as I was used to it. Guys say firefox is hit too tho.

Spybot S&D "Immunization" rejumbled my security settings tho so yeah guess its time to park IE as their settings are a nightmare to config.

This fucker even has a timer so any page you are reading can and usually does blow up at up to 10 minutes I've seen.

Congratz! This is the first time ever in what 14 years of surfing that my defenses have been penetrated. Me, the stubborn cat instead of updating to Chrome will prob fight this battle and search for cures.

But not for long. It is getting annoying real fast. Guy could at least turn down the fuckin skim and let me surf a site or two!
