Most whales opened programs and paysites, they aren't gone - they just aren't promoting other programs. Lots of affiliates today can send over a 100 sales a day, I would say several hundred can, just most don't dedicate it to one or two sites at a time like they once did.

Some are even mainstream companies that don't want to be associated with the adult business at all, but they do like the adult thrill and extra revenues involved.

Industries with Affiliates, the affiliate whales are always an extremely small percentage of the overall group. They are also the first group that opens products, they're still a whale they just don't share it with others now.

IMO, if you add up all the little affiliates sending a few sales a day or a week or a month, the majority of sales and profits are coming from them as opposed to a few whales. Especially considering many of the little affiliates will never reach payout.

So in the same context as fatfoo's post, an affiliate program needs 1000's of little affiliates and cannot survive on 1 big whale.
