so i installed icq, that program likes to take over eh
wow, a toolbar installed on both browsers, home page changed, default search engine changed, no way to remove from the task bar. wow.
on a positive note, it was well worth the install.   |

Under the prefs link under one of those many tabs it has is a way to turn all that shit off. Outside of that, check out Pidgin. No extra bs but covers all the basic needs, suppots icq, irc, msn, aim, google talk, and others.
