Govt to decide on fate of .xxx - GoFuckYourself.com

Sorry if this is old news, but looks very interesting considering the US govt, which I think is against a porn-only domain, could decide on its fate after ICANN deferred voting on the proposal until December, referring the domain to its governmental Advisory Committe (GAC).

.xxx I think we all agree is just a cash grab.. If not then drop the price to $8 its not like managing .xxx is more then any other TLD that cost less..

Side note would the owner of xxx.com not have a voice in this? being as any owner of a domain can reg their URL as a dot whatever now.. IE porn.com could make porn.porn was this not already past a year or more ago *cant remember if it was only for trade markable urls..

Maybe someone else can drop some light on this.

Can GAC be successfully influenced by lobbying? How much time does ICM have to influence GAC's decision?

There is a reason for this — legitimizing porn by granting it its own domain (i.e., .xxx). This would create not only policy problems, but more importantly, political conflicts with the religious rightists — *the Fundies* May they rot in their own imaginary hell!
