Slly Question.. about Sponsors..
Edit: (topic should have read "Silly" not Slly.. can't edit that shit lol)
but maybe the title should have read: "Legit Question about Silly Sponsors"? I dunno... But here it goes: Why would a sponsor pull the webmaster link from the index pages of all of their member sites??? The links were there before, but now on all of the sites they own, they are missing.... I own over 1000 sites and promote several hundred programs, and as I am going through looking for dead links, bad galleries, removing links from shit like SOBV and others that scam or closed up shop, I click on some of the galleries and site links to identify what program promotes the sites. (to see if they are legit, check stats, decide to drop, promote more or less, etc). For most of my sites I only promote about 1 to 4 programs per site and checking things this way makes it easier to identify what links to kill the bad shit. The only times I have ever seen a program pull it's webmaster link from a site was right before they closed their program (but left the sites running). I cannot think of any legitimate reason to pull the webmaster links, other than to make it more difficult to identify what sites go to what programs. You would assume that aside from making existing affiliates frustrated by having to google around to find out what program the site belongs to, that they are also shooting themselves in the foot as far as recruiting new affiliates... What do you think? Why would a sponsor force their affiliates to jump through hoops to try to figure out what sites are theirs?? Should I automatically assume they are shady or closing up shop? Why would a sponsor pull the webmaster link from the index pages of all of their member sites???
