CA - In-State Tuition Rates For Illegal Aliens

The California Supreme Court decided unanimously Monday that illegal immigrants may continue to be eligible for in-state tuition rates at the state's colleges and universities rather than pay the higher rates charged to those who live out of state.

Same thing is going on here in Kansas. We have a new Governor and Secretary of State, so this will hopefully change.

in oklahoma, in 1998 we had asian students who got in-state tuition rates after 1 or 2 years residence. Florida I think was after 1 year

One of my FB friends is going off on a diatribe about how the law was upheld and should have been. He is now trying to bait me into bringing same sex marriage in the convo.

Seems logical though given that the illegal alien would have to prove to the school that he/she had been living in CA for at least 1 year (ie paying taxes in CA for 1 year).

Out of states residents pay taxes to different states, so they should go to the state school where they live to get their own in-state tuition.

So lets keep all the poor people poor right?

Does it make you feel better to have people to hate?

Does it make you feel better about buying more guns?

1. It's not the school's job to administer immigration laws.

2. You are wrong, illegal aliens do have rights. No whether they should have rights is an entirely different questions. But as it stands now, illegal aliens do have rights.

Quote:
Do not let the fact that the term "illegal aliens" does not appear in the U.S. Constitution lead you to believe that its rights and freedoms do not apply to them. The courts have held otherwise.

Often described as a "living document," the Constitution has repeatedly been interpreted by the U.S. Supreme Court, federal appeals courts and Congress in order to address the ever-changing needs and demands of the people. While many argue that "We the People of the United States," refers only to legal citizens, the Supreme Court has consistently disagreed.
