Did you go to Webmaster Access Amsterdam? Remember the coffee machines?

Any of you own one like the ones they had there? We are looking for one for home use. It does not need to be quite as big, but if it made cappuccinos like them it would be a plus.

what Jack said.
I think the coffee tasted horrible but heh baddog living in a country where StarBucks, StarFucks or whatever they are called is the number 1 in coffee yes I do understand you and do pity you old man.

If you are still breathing next year I will be happily to get you a serious cup of coffee in Amsterdam, or even invite you to go to the coffee shop of one of our smaller brands like Levelt or any other good coffee makers.

If you are looking for a real espresso machine, than this is the place:
http://www.espressocoffeeshop.com/

If you're just looking for a coffee like liquid without much hassle, than nespresso is the way to go.

We went and looked at a few today to get an up close and personal idea of what we do and do not want. So far, Delonghi and Jura seem to be the top contenders.

Sweet, I got a Delonghi (Espresso, Cappuccino and Latte maker) from cashing points in to a sponsor about a year back. I think from Platinum Bucks, actually cant remember.

I wont be much help tho as it is still in the box and just never got around to firing it up yet.

Mr Coffee and PapaNicholas coffee (out of Chicago) are fine to me. But will have to see what all the fuss is about. I have never had an espresso. Im "sheltered" I guess.

Just make sure you read tests about Delonghi. They often look cool, but the coffee does not taste too good. Same with Nespresso.

If money is not a problem, try the Jura Impressa Z5. If you are looking for a "pod" machine, Rancilio Silvia is a decent choice as well as Ascaso ARC Eclipse.

Buying preground coffee in little pods is a horrible idea.

Find a decent small coffee roaster. Go there. Buy a week's worth of beans. Grind them YOURSELF before each cup of coffee you make. Using that method and a 10 buck french press will, and I assure you of this, will piss all over any powdery preground, prepackaged shit.

IMHO

:D

Agreed! I got one of those "old" coffee grinders that takes me 2 minutes just to grind the beans . But Nothing like the smell of fresh coffee

Yeah I was looking at buying the Jura Impressa Z5, but I then booked an office with "free coffee" included.
But of course they exchanged the good machine with a crappy one after some months....

Hey Baddog, have you thought about getting one of these?

Tassimo wasn't the brand in AMS, but Morten is a coffee fiend and after buying and trying a bunch of different ones (not to mention bringing his big ass expresso maker to the US only to find out we needed a converter that was bigger and heavier than the maker, just to get it to the wattage it needed to work) he is finally happy with the Tassimo, the coffee available on it is better than the Keurig maker, since Tassimo offers the Starbucks brand as well as their own. My favorite is the Caramel Cappacino, the milk pods actually froth.

I was reading reviews yesterday and the Delonghi beat out Jura enough that it went off my list of potential candidates.

Not for even a moment. I have my Krups if I want to work at making coffee. I am looking for an auto or semi-auto now.

And caramel cappuccinos . . . not for me, thank you.

I got this POS a few years back-

Gorgeous, over priced... broke after about 2 years. Weighs a metric ton, would cost almost as much to fix as to buy new.

hmmm.. that's weird?

anywho-

The machine is the X5 by FrancisFrancis! It's a POS, here's the link to the image.

http://media.dwell.com/images/314*31...francis-x5.jpg

It's crap. I got the Tassimo for my grandmother a few years back and she totally loves it. It's super easy to use with those little pod cups. I noticed you weren't really interested but just wanted to put it out there that it's durable and reliable, and alot cheaper than the overpriced bourgeois one I got for myself.

I am very picky when it comes to coffee and it was very difficult to find good, quality espresso stuff in SoCal. But I did! I bought similar coffee machine in Ikea in Carson, as the one posted above, and I bought Tully`s Italian roast, the Ethiopian one in Ralph. Not all stores have it. It was the best available around.

Good machines like that go from $800 to god knows how much. I have a cheap one and paid 600 for it. Nothing beats European coffee.
