Trump delivered second blow to ACA and the do nothing Congress

Obama was using money siphoned (stolen) from the private investors of Fannie and Freddie to pay the subsidies rather than get congressional approval. That all came to an end today. The government is set to lose a case brought on by the investors which will cost tax payers billions. Technically they already lost but it's up for appeal.

President Trump will “immediately” halt subsidies to health insurers | Rare

Facts are straight. They are using the claim of the money going into the general fund as an excuse that it's not what it's being used for but that's why they did what they did because ACA was unfunded. They will still lose the lawsuit and it will still cost us billions more.

Health insurance in the USA is going to get interesting.

Big premium increases for those that smoke/ drink or own guns and ultra low insurance for those that can submit full family history and dna tests.

Its a sorry fucking country when money becomes your god, but... not my country

It took Obama many years to overcome the fuckups of GW Bush, with Trump it wont be so easy and I doubt you will ever have someone as smart as Obama run again.

I really feel very sorry for the USA.

I'm just exhausted by all of this. I rarely watch the news any more.

From what I've read, it seems like trump did two things.

First, he removed the restrictions on what insurance they can offer. A big problem we had in the health was these stripped down healthcare packages. People thought they had healthcare, but when a serious problem came up they discovered things weren't covered, or they had caps on how much money the insurance would cover.

Second, the US government is not going to subsidize the payments to the healthcare. This means we will be paying full price for healthcare. In my case, my bill goes from $150 a month to $1100 a month - almost as much as my mortgage.

This is stunning. So now we are required, by law, to buy healthcare, and our healthcare will no longer be subsidized by the US government so for most people our healthcare bills will go through the roof. So less people will be insured, and it will cost more for the people who do pay for it. Then when less people are paying into the costs, the costs will go up even more.

This is going to be a massive failure, and it will fall at the feet of the Republicans.

Trump is just pressuring the House and Senate to do something. Subsidy funding was going to end either way. He just sped up the process to light a fire under their asses. None of it's Trumps fault. It all rests with the House and Senate twiddling their thumbs. If they don't do something by the end of the year my bet is Trump removes the penalties as well. You can't lay blame on just the Republican's either. It's both sides.

Same. It's the same thing daily, Trump being irrational, testing a lie or contradicting, attacking the little, closer to war with NK & Iran, rolling back something Obama, etc. etc.

Trump only caters to his small core racist base and ignores the rest of the countries needs, a true cuck

If Trump and the Congress can't come up with some kind of a solution for the subsidy issue and those payments end, it will be the death of Obamacare.

Trump's son in law's brother is the VC of a healthcare startup that reportedly is failing -- selling lesser insurance

https://www.forbes.com/sites/stevenb.../#1d677d84f240

Quote:
The actual running of the business has been harder than expected. It turns out that creating a slick user experience was the simple part. Building health networks, attracting customers and managing high patient costs was expensive. Oscar lost $120 million in 2015 and $205 million in 2016. But it is not alone in its struggle in the individual insurance exchanges. Giants like United Healthcare and Aetna have aggressively abandoned unprofitable regions. Oscar still has plenty of capital in the bank, but with a decline this year in enrollments, from 140,000 to 105,000 (after exiting risky markets), it clearly erred in terms of overall demand.

As with Obamacare itself, Kushner and Oscar have scaled back expectations. The company has pulled out of money-losing markets to focus on three metropolitan areas--New York, San Antonio and Los Angeles. While Oscar initially strove for the biggest health network possible, it now partners with hospital systems, sharing risk and aligning pricing incentives with the goal of driving down costs.

While the company says the failed Obamacare repeal is good news, the events of the past several weeks will not cure its ills. Oscar had already been urgently shifting toward a world without the Affordable Care Act and its individual mandate, launching an insurance product for small business--the hope is that its flashy tech will lead to big corporate deals (possible first targets: investors Google and Fidelity). ...

There are already several states that allow companies to cross state lines and sell insurance policies in them and so far they have had zero companies take them up on the offer because the potential profit isn't worth the trouble. Republicans love to tout this as miracle fix, but I doubt it will do much of anything.

Healthcare is regulated by each state by their own terms that cannot be below that of federal laws.

So, lower the bar for the healthy to insure and raise the bar (costs) for those sick that really need healthcare insurance. Those sick people deserve to pay more or they can just drop dead?

Got bad news for the healthy -- don't get sick in America!

It will be the death of insurance because coverage for everyone not just Obamacare is going to sky rocket.

This will cost millions of people their health insurance and everyone will know who to blame.. and it won't be Obama.

Yep, if the subsidies are removed millions will be priced out of the market, leaving only those who are healthy and young and buying the cheapest policies possible and those who are extremely sick left and the insurance companies don't make much money from them so they will continue to raise their rates or simply pull out of many markets because they can't make a profit there any longer.

As someone with a preexisting condition, I fear it will go back to how things were before Obamacare where I had a shitty buffalo policy and paid for everything out of pocket which sucked bad.

So less people on healthcare and more costs. And when we need point blame on someone, we will all point at Trump.

It seems like all Trump is good at doing is wrecking things. He did that in business, and is now doing it as president. Let's see that fucker create something for once.

The companies that do the cross state health insurance sales are mostly scam pump and dump companies that go bankrupt. Lots of deductions and "losses" on paper the first 5 or so years in then they stop paying claims, go bankrupt and the health insurance customers are fucked.

Trump is a 71 year old morbidly obese bald geriatric he's just happy all of his debt will be gone after being president so his family can prosper after he's dead which will be sooner than later of course.

Does Trump have any actual ideas to move things forward, other than just looking at what Obama did and trying to undo it? That's pretty much all he's done. Just like in business, he's only good at leaving a trail of destruction wherever he goes. He's also been exposed as a MAJOR, blatant fucking golf cheater. Of all the low shit Donald Trump is capable of, that's just about the lowest.

He just may the scummiest piece of garbage to ever live, let alone be president. Fred Trump should have pulled out that night and shot his rancid load on momma's back.

I hate to say it but I think Trump is unstoppable now. Righties win, Libbies lose. Sorry for all the negative posts. Peace and sigh.

This is really about having money for tax breaks.
The ACA was not imploding as bad or as fast as they told us, so it needed some help.
