German people please advise .de domains...

What is the deal with adult on .de domains these days?

Years ago I had a small website on a .de and received an official email/pdf asking for over 5 thousand euros (not a scam, all official, my registrar confirmed). It wasn't about record keeping but surfer age verification I think. Whole thing was pages long and all in German. I just gave up the domain.

To this day I see some adult content but not really any porn.

Anyone can explaining what the rules are?

I don't know the law paragraphs, but nudity is pretty much not allowed on de domains.

At the age of 18 you are concidered as an adult in Germany. Below that age, you are not allowed to see hardcore stuff.
At the age of 16,you are allowed to see softcore (erotic) material.
Below 16, nothing.
De-websites must have an age verification system. I am pretty sure, that you are not allowed to show any nudity without any age verification.
For example, even underwear shops remove (female) nipples on their images.

So if you want to show any nude stuff, be sure to put in on your protected and age confirmed members area.

rules are even worse now.
and you can not own a german domain without some administrative contact in germany.

if they can not fuck you they will fuck him.

take the hands from that - no german porn user will search for porn on a .de domain.

i know the owners of sex.de and porno.de - and i had porno.de in my hands for a few years. it was the biggest lost i made in 20 years online porn.

Yepp, only Germans can register a de domain.

The protect-the-youth-from-nudity-policy is super strict.
Guess why you don't even see nude de-banner?

the german market is one of the highest value markets in the world but to deal with that you have to know A LOT about it.

even 80% of german webmasters gave up because they did not understand it.

So, if a website's TLD is not .de but is all in Deutsch, with German niche oriented porn; what difference does the TLD make really?

As far as dealing with the German public ...

the TLD have no influence at all.
99% of all successful german pornsites are not .de domains.

Thanks for all the answers. Thought things might have changed but looks like it's still the same situation as years ago...

.at and .ch is another situation. even the google index in this countries is not the same because the mentioned "chilling effect" does only exist in germany.

there have been a few .at and .ch sites with good traffic but these markets are very special because they are different from each other even when they speak the same language.

How strict are the rules in Germany? Many times i see some tits on a .de domain, but not much more. Like the whitelabels of vxcash on Sexfilm.de - Zeigegeile tabulose Girls im LIVE Sex Chat Is that forbidden, cause i see nipples

I can register .de domains, many domain providers give the option to use a German address you can use for 50 eurocents a year.

normally this site is not allowed by german law and can only be shown from 11pm til 6 am as it is.

but they have so many bigger problems and this site does not rank in the german index - so nobody will really complain it.

there is also no law against titts - this law is a piece of fuck and every court can use it´s own definition. that bullshit only exists because nobody in germany ever tried to go against it. the webmasters just said OK and moved their companies offshore.

the funny part is that this "official institution" what fucks you for it is a company and not a legal government institution.

but as i said - nobody gives a shit on it - shall they keep their chairs and proudly present every year that they kicked 100 sites out of the google index - it takes 24 hours to have them back there. for the german porn biz it is easier to deal with this amateurs as to make a big wave out of it.

you can try it - but you will not get it without a german admin.

Ok, didn't even know they have a special company that looks for people that want to complain about websites. Never had any notice, but not doing much in Germany cause it is difficult to convert. I have around 15 .de domains, i just selected to use the German address from the domain company for 50 cents, and it works.
