State tax + City tax + sales tax + exit bag = I need a bong ripper!

How much is it there?

it's illegal here so your tax is having to meet pale, emotionless guys in shady 90's hiphop apparel near some high-rise apartment buildings

If you're experiencing it like this, than you're doing it the wrong way

The high tax is why they aren't making the money they expected.

Is this on top of regular taxes? If not, specify only number ON TOP of regular taxes as narcotics tax, not everything combines, because normal sales tax is not weed tax.

i snagged some light dep OG this time around, not as pretty flowers but it's top shelf stony but not as pricey. everything here now has to be independent lab rated, so that also helps.

There is no tax in California if you have a med card. I don't think they pay a tax in Colorado either if you have a card.

My concern with the rec in 2018 is that your name gets added to the med marijuana registry database and I've been told that shows up when police run your driver's license during a traffic stop, etc.

Do you know whether or not that's true?

I just did the math on a rec or pay the tax, i come out better just paying the tax, based on the amount of weed I buy per month.

Same here in Oregon. There area lot of people in Oregon letting their weed cards lapse because we have a $200 a year fee for the weed card and a lot of people who don't buy a whole lot of pot no longer see the value of it.

Here 1g (1000ML) carts run between $35-$60 plus 20% tax. The ones I typically buy are $45 so about $54 total. I'll spend the extra few bucks to not have to worry about getting arrested.

They aren't arresting people with personal doses in NYC anymore. It's decriminalized.

That said, I agree with you that it's better to do things on the up and up. But no option for that right now here.

Ah, I didn't realize it was decriminalized there. That's good.

A few weeks ago I was watching the show Live PD and they stopped a guy who had a 1g vape cart and he ended up getting busted and the police said having concentrates like that in that state (I think it was South Carolina) is a felony. It seemed crazy to me. It's insane to me that something you could buy for around $50 legally in one state can send you to jail in another.

The insanity happens when law not abiding states do not follow federal law.

I have a feeling the guy I saw on the show would have maybe even been let off or had less charges (and who knows what actually came of it in the end) but he lied about having it and tried to hide it in his pants which seemed to annoy the cop.

manufactured drugs are too risky for me. I was surprised it made it through Cali recreational weed laws. I stick to the flowers.

Here in cali, dispensaries cannot compete with black market prices. There's a huge hidden tax on top of the advertised tax price--you're paying for the fact that, because cannabis is still federally illegal, business can't deduct most of their operating expenses. For the most part, they pay corporate income tax on the sticker price minus what they paid for it; none of their employee salaries or rent or other operating expenses are deductible.

End result is I can pay $20 for a bag of straight fire from a buddy, or I can pay $40 for a bag of decent shit from the club.

Black market ain't goin anywhere till shit's federally legal.

A few weeks back I saw a big story here in Oregon about how the state is now growing a lot more weed than it can sell so the growers, who have permits and are growing legally, can't find buyers so they are selling it on the black market and bags of weed that has been professionally processed and labeled are ending up in other states and being found by the police. Too many people have tried to get in on the gold rush and are finding out that the customer base is starting to plateau.

yup. we still buy elsewhere from the dispensaries. can't beat the prices but i do like buying lab tested so i know what i'm getting. can't beat the selection at the weed store either. Usually only have 1-2 to choose from dealing with dealer.

It is, just not as much in Oregon. As new states like California and Nevada come online it continues to grow. And here in Oregon we still get some new people starting to buy, but at the end of the day there are only so many people who smoke week so in some areas sales will start to flatten out. It's still a huge industry.

In the last year I have seen prices drop a lot in the two dispensaries I go to. A year ago every type of flower was $10-$14/g plus 20% tax. Now at least half their weed is $8/g plus tax. There used to only be a few choices for oil carts and they ranged in price from $50-$80. Now most of those are $34-$50 and there are a dozen choices. When I went to the store last Friday they had a sale with half gram prerolls for $1 and 1g prerolls for $2.

What we are starting to see now is an expansion of higher end stuff and a lot more edibles.

I think in states like this where it has now been legal for a few years and the market is mature, it will continue to level out then likely stay pretty steady. We will see explosive growth in new states.
