How Happy is Your Country? According to the UN, These are the 10 Happiest Countries in the World

https://www.inc.com/melanie-curtin/t...ing-to-un.html

The United Nations recently released their annual World Happiness Report, which included their list of the world's top 10 "Happiest Countries."

A few of the factors that contributed to a country making the list: whether people living there had strong social support (robust communities); whether citizens felt they could trust their government; and whether they lived in freedom.

United States did not make the list. Canada did.

According to the United Nations, the 10 happiest countries in 2019 are:

Finland
Denmark
Norway
Iceland
The Netherlands
Switzerland
Sweden
New Zealand
Canada
Austria
Among those paying attention to the list are people passionate about travel, since it follows that not only would it be happiness-inducing to live in such a country, but also to travel to one.

According to Travelzoo Senior Editor Gabe Saglie, "[T]ravel to the countries that made the top 10 cut allows us to tap into some of the pervasive factors that seem to make everyday life there a happy proposition: a sense of community that comes from social support, the joys that come from increased generosity among citizens, and the overall happiness of people who lead a healthy lifestyle ..."

Interestingly, Travelzoo has found that spontaneous travel itself is actually directly tied to happiness. That's right: apparently people who take spontaneous trips have more fun than those who take non-spontaneous trips.

According to Travelzoo, 34 percent of people engaging in non-spontaneous leisure travel (planned trips) agree they are happy most of the time, where as 49 percent of spontaneous leisure travelers reported joy.

That said, even if you're on a planned trip, evidence shows it'll still lift your spirits. Studies repeatedly demonstrate that traveling leads to happiness because it exposes you to novel situations (which spikes your dopamine); allows you to learn about yourself (self-discovery); and helps you build resilience--since travel so often involves overcoming challenges in unfamiliar environments.

In other words, there's nothing quite like having no cell reception in a remote area of a country where you don't speak the language to help you get creative--and learn that you really are resourceful. There's also a sense of peace that comes from learning you can depend on yourself and the random helpfulness of life, even if that means riding in the back of a pickup truck with a bunch of chickens as your travel companions.

In 2018, the travel and tourism industry contributed a staggering $8.8 trillion to the global economy. Unbelievably, travel and tourism also accounts for one in ten of all jobs around the world. So when you travel, not only do you become a better version of yourself, you contribute pretty significantly to the local economy.

Looking to contribute by touring especially happy destinations? According to the list, a good bet is to take a spontaneous trip to Scandinavia--four of the ten countries are there. There are some creative Scandinavian summer cruises.

Other spontaneous ideas: If you live in the U.S., grab a few friends and go on an adventurous roadtrip through whatever part of Canada is closest to your state. Canada has gorgeous national parks; beautiful, safe, clean cities; and a population that's polite and welcoming.

Several airlines also offer low-cost airfare to Iceland, which is on the list--and if you're on the east coast of the U.S., a spontaneous trip there is realistic, given how close it is. Among other wonders, you can take a Game of Thrones tour of the country, including one where you can "relive the Wildlings' invasion south of the Wall."

Bosa, have you ever left the continent that you're on? Doubt it.

Have you ever been to a country that wasn't all white? Doubt it.

I am not like you living in the same city all my life. I am traveling the world.

I have traveled and lived in almost all of Europe and parts of America (only blue states of course)
I understand by your statements you have never traveled to Europe or you would know better. Sad for you.

Despite Steady Growth, Just 42% of Americans Have a Passport

https://thriftytraveler.com/us-citizens-passport/

A shocking number of Americans never leave home

https://nypost.com/2018/01/11/a-shoc...er-leave-home/

They say there’s no place like home, but for some Americans, that couldn’t be more true because quite a surprising amount never actually left in the first place.

According to new research of 2,000 Americans across the country, an amazing 11 percent of survey respondents have never traveled outside of the state where they were born.

That might explain why well over half of those surveyed (54 percent) say they’ve visited 10 states or fewer.

As many as 32 percent of those studied in the poll said they either don’t own or can’t actually remember ever buying any travel luggage.

And a great number of Americans have spent little time up in the clouds — in fact, as many as 13 percent say they have never flown in an airplane at all.

The new study, conducted by market researchers OnePoll, and commissioned by travel luggage provider Victorinox, explored the nation’s travel experiences and the barriers preventing people from exploring more.

Results showed that there is a strong desire to travel with 76 percent wanting to travel more than they do currently, but a lack of finances or simply feeling unprepared and ill-equipped are preventing many from taking the plunge.

A spokesperson for Victorinox said: “The results show that the vast majority of people have the desire to travel more but just haven’t quite been able to make the leap yet.”

“There is so much to see and explore, not just internationally but domestically as well, and it’s remarkable to see that so many people feel unprepared or don’t have the travel luggage that enables them to pack up and set off.”

“Given how many respondents strongly desire to venture out into the world, we fully understand the need to provide reasonable and dependable travel solutions for new travelers.”

The study results were pretty astonishing, as 40 percent of those questioned said they’ve never actually left the country.

Over half of respondents have never even actually owned a passport.

But it’s not for lack of ambition. Most of those surveyed expressed their desire to travel, with 85 percent saying they like to experience new things and nearly 60 percent saying they have a list of places in mind they’d like to see.

So, what’s holding people back from taking that trip they have in mind? For many, it’s not just a lack of feeling prepared or equipped to travel, it’s about finances.

The cost of travel and leisure proves to be a barrier for many Americans. Sixty-three percent of Americans who have never left the country said the trip would be just a little out of their price range.

Twenty-five percent said they just can’t find the time to travel, but three-fourths of respondents said they would definitely like to travel more than they do.

In fact, only one in 10 say they have no interest in going anywhere.

The Victorinox survey went on to ask about people’s luggage, with 60 percent saying that size and functionality were their most important qualities in a bag.

However, 30 percent of those polled haven’t bought new luggage in six or more years, with only 10 percent even knowing where their current luggage bag even came from. And 13 percent of those polled don’t even own luggage bags of any kind.

The Victorinox spokesperson added: “Having sturdy and reliable luggage can go a long way in securing the confidence to make that journey- whether it be to a different state or an entirely different continent.

High happy ratings are automatically given to countries with liberal based gender equality and human rights, gender rights etc.

It doesn't mean shit, liberals in entire Europe is losing ground. People are unhappy, a large portion of the population are depressed and have lost their power. Many don't know why, they self medicate due to lack of proper healthcare and support of society. Shopping and consuming stuff helps the rest of the NPC's.

Human rights...
Gender equality...
Gender rights...

Empty words and phrases of how accepting we are equals HIGH HAPPY RATING.

At the same time nationalism is fought against and the feeling of belonging and a strong community is lacking.

Strong and harmonic societies are not built on politics that have dividing and splitting effect on the population.

Thanks, but no thanks' - Norwegians reject Trump's immigration offer

So the OG White People of Europe (all of Scandinavia and beyond) refuse to live in USA. They invite diversity. Thats got to hurt a bit. I guess European White People are little more evolved than some of their racist cousins.

'Why would anyone migrate to the US from Norway? Why would you give up healthcare?' Scandinavian Twitter mocks Trump after he said he wanted Norwegians rather than people from 's***hole' countries

^^ Yeah who would leave a virtually all white country for diversified USA? Certainly not Bosa who resides in his ALL WHITE country.

Imagine if we were all white? We would be saving over a trillion on welfare right out the gate, not to mention we could fire 80% of the police force.

Does your racist head get around that America with a white population of 72.4% is as high as any of the country's listed??? Or do you think all other countries have closed borders, never let anyone in and are purebred white Aryan?

He's still trying to grasp that 49% of Australia's population is either first- or second-generation migrants, or that 1/4 of New Zealander's have brown skin.

Right.

Dont think you understand what the Third World is.

You might want to take a look at where Bonnie Scotland sits in the various tables regarding all of the measures of affluence.

Your racism is making you into a really sad individual.

The general population in most countries are losing ground. More and more country's politicians are only interested in the well being of large corporations, the "economy", stock exchanges and their own self interests. Deciding it's only one side, the opposing one to yours, that makes the fewest mistakes is stupid.

Europeans have been anti-mass immigration for centuries, that makes no difference to the politicians who rule. As they aren't threatened with losing their jobs, raised rental and house prices, having their wages cut, won't have to pay the high costs of mass immigration and benefit from mass immigration. It carries on regardless.

Now the people of Europe are voting for the despicable Right Wing, because the Liberal Left and Middle have fucked them and will keep fucking them if they're kept in office.

I predict Friday we will see a bigger turn out for the Far Right, just because the others offer nothing.

Before you bleat I'm a migrant, racist or Nazi. Explain the benefits of mass immigration to the general public please.

As for America, you benefited from importing African Americans so should not lump them in as immigrants.

The silly mistake of lumping all migrants in together and saying what applies to one country is a good rule to apply to every country.

Finland Finn 93.4%, Swede 5.7%, Sami (Lapp) 0.1%, Roma 0.2%, Estonian 0.2%

Denmark Scandinavian, Inuit, Faroese, German, Turkish, Iranian, Somali

Norway Norwegian, Sami 20,000

Iceland homogeneous mixture of Norse/Celtic descendants 94%, population of foreign origin 6%

Netherlands Dutch 83%, other 17% (9% of non-Western origin, mainly Turks, Moroccans, Antilleans, Surinamese, and Indonesians) (1999 est.)

Switzerland German 65%, French 18%, Italian 10%, Romansch 1%, other 6%

Sweden indigenous population: Swedes with Finnish and Sami minorities; foreign-born or first-generation immigrants: Finns, Yugoslavs, Danes, Norwegians, Greeks, Turks

New Zealand European 69.8%, Maori 7.9%, Pacific Islander 4.4%, Asian 5.7%, other 0.5%, mixed 7.8%, unspecified 3.8% (2001)

Canada British Isles origin 28%, French origin 23%, other European 15%, indigenous Indian and Inuit 2%, other, mostly Asian, African, Arab 6%, mixed background 26%

Austria Austrians 91.1%, former Yugoslavs 4% (includes Croatians, Slovenes, Serbs, Bosniaks), Turks 1.6%, German 0.9%, other or unspecified 2.4% (2001)

There is a few common factors there. But the overall decider on how happy countries are comes down to wealth of the people (not a few), healthcare, education, homes, safety, space, culture and most certainly not about colour. If people of countries like Syria, Congo, Pakistan were to act like the people of Finland, Denmark or Norway.

They would be a lot happier.

He's still trying to grasp that 49% of Australia's population is either first- or second-generation migrants, or that 1/4 of New Zealander's have brown skin.
So all those Nordic countries are only 70% white? Bullshit.

And yeah, second-generation migrants from...white European countries. Stop being so disingenuous.

Your stats are nice like, but just totally wrong. NZ as an example, Māori are 15% But and its the HUGE but, people in NZ will put on the censorship form what ethnic group they want to belong to. There's actually no pure blood Māori left, everyone's 1/4 - 1/16th, every 2 generation family in NZ, has a Māori connection, them Māori girls a bit loose at the knees ;)

Half those that are say 1/8th will identify as white and the other half Māori, even though by blood their technically the same.

OneHung, wrong on Aus, population growth is Asians and Indians.
