But Trump promised us more manufacturing jobs and a strong auto industry.

According to your link:
2,400 of those jobs are in "North America"...Some of them are in the U.S.

Mostly in managerial positions. 500 of them in the U.S. this week and another 300 over the summer in the U.S. for a total of EIGHT HUNDRED in the U.S.

"Ford says the job cuts eliminate bureaucracy and increase the number of workers reporting to each manager"

So yeah..."Make America Great Again" doesn't mean making Ford jobs in other countries "great". Matter of fact, the tax cuts are designed to bring jobs BACK to the U.S.

Also...you should be happy. All the major car manufacturers are restructuring to begin a massive push to electric cars.

That's going to require layoffs and plant closings at current factory's. Then the rebuilding and retooling of those factories (which means JOBS). And then finally the re-opening and re-hiring of the factories to make electric cars.

Think it through.
The economy is roaring. It's the perfect time to make these moves and spend the money needed to move from gas cars to electric cars.

As a car guy, I know a thing or two about this. It has nothing to do with tariffs. Ford has only 2 viable models. The mustang and the F150. They are dropping car models and sticking with the 2. They are scape goating about tariffs. It’s simply that ford sucks and can only sell 2 models. Same with chevy.

See you're confusing our MAGA for crockett's version of MAGA.

You and I want a strong economy, good GDP, low inflation, low unemployment. Crockett wants the country to burn because "his guy" didn't win.

What are the jobs? You guys used to claim under Obama it was all low paying jobs being created... so what are the jobs?

Also Trump still has not matched Obama's job creation numbers so if they were bad under Obama then why is less now MAGA?

If it's all so great, then why are all these farmers going bankrupt?

obama +8.9 million over 8 years
trump +4.7 million in his first 2 years

and farmers are going bankrupt for many reasons. the main being that for the most part, this country eats mass produced garbage “food”.

personally speaking, i think if we cannot ban religion altogether, we should start taxing the shit out of it, and make farmers (as well as teachers, police and firefighters) tax exempt.

$1 Billion in Ford profit given to Trump's government in steel tariff fees.

17 months of steel tariffs are taking their toll, according to Ford.

Obama was handed a collapsing econemy with banks and the auto makers being bailed out before he even stepped foot in office. Trump was handed a booming economy and he's squandered it and is getting barely average numbers..

Holy shit. You just want to spin everything don't you.

"Ford faces pressure to improve its profitability. Its profit margin has lagged those of some competitors. It has announced the costs of commodities it buys, such as steel and aluminum, have increased about $1 billion annually after tariffs were imposed on those products."

Trump's trade war is causing America's second largest car company to cut 10% of it's workforce. This comes after GM announced last November they are cutting 15% of their staff.

Again, you show you know nothing about business. You see Ford as an American company without giving any consideration to what Ford actually does. They build cars all across the world - Turkey, Russia, China, Taiwan, Thailand.... In order for a US Car company to stay in business they have to do business world wide...

If the tax cuts worked... Why are they cutting jobs?

Obviously most of you have never employed anyone and were/are employees or in 1-2 man bands. So let me inform you of what goes on in the real world.

Th biggest cost for a company is most likely employment, therefore cutting a workforce while increasing productivity is something senior management want to do what ever party is in office. Blaming one President for it is stupid, especially when for 50 years all Presidents have stood by and done nothing while millions were lost to the 3rd world.

Also let's not forget how many jobs were lost in the car industry to automation. Now Ford decide to cut more.

Then you (and Trump) should apply a similar logic to realise why there is a trade imbalance with China.

The old high cost economies of the west have a trade imbalance with the low cost east.

I wonder why ?

But no, Trump says that China is ripping off the US.

What the west actually needs to do is find and make products that the Chinese market wants.

China - a vast rapidly growing market. You would have thought that the great deal maker would be seeing opportunities, not bogey men.

Getting the Steel and metal forging industries back to the US is going to take time, it will cost consumers money, but it will save taxes and give more jobs to more people. Also the increased prices apply to everyone, not just Fords. Now it's important to make sure foreign companies using foreign low priced steel are benefiting by that.

Not protecting home industries means this. https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/35355882

Quote:
The UK has a rich history of making a type of metal called steel, which is used in things like buildings and transport.

The British industry is struggling because of competition from China, which sells its steel more cheaply.

The Tata Steel company has announced planning to sell its UK factories, putting thousands of jobs at risk.

The government says it's working hard to help save the British steel industry.
At some point the haemorrhaging of good jobs to the 3rd world has to stop, jobs have to return to the 1st world if the 1st world wants to stay there. Or next time it might just be your job that gone.

It's costing us money. We can get our steel and metal industries back up, but this means everything is going to cost more - a lot more. We are going to pay twenty-five percent more for steel products? The cost of everything will go up.
