2257 obligations
If I buy content from a producer or broker I get media+documents but before I publish to my site or to a third party platform, should I edit each videos to add a 2257 statement at the start/end?
If yes, what to write at the end: "all record are kept by the following Custodian of Records: xxx" (me or the actual producer?) Am I a "secondary producer"? In the model release form, beside "Producer Name" should it be the name of the primary or secondary producer? (it looks like it is left blank to be filled in) Note: I live outside of the US, if that's of any relevance. |

No you do not need to add 2257 info to videos since you are secondary producer.

I'd get with a lawyer that deals with 2257 law, since your outside the US you personally may not be in harms way, but if your getting traffic from affiliates they may have some issues with how your site is handling it's paperwork.
It shouldn't cost too much, and will let you sleep better at night knowing that if someone comes calling, you have a lawyer that provided a structure for how you should deal with paperwork.
