How to swim in a blue ocean (aka: find your nice)
Working with niches and microniches, I can say that in the affiliate marketing world, finding your niche is a step towards success and to improve your earnings.
This won’t happen as a miracle; you will need a mix of (self-) reflection, research, and tests. Here is what I suggest to do: 1. Your interest is key: Find the topics that interest you the most. To succeed in affiliate marketing, it's critical to commit for the long term. That's why choosing a niche that matches your true interests is vital, since it will keep you motivated long-term (theoretically). 2. Do your homework: While personal interests matter, you can’t go all in without evaluating if the chosen niche can also be profitable. Do your research using tools (e.g., Google Trends), check affiliate networks, and go to specific forums. Don't leave this step incomplete. 3. Check the competition: After finding a handful of potential niches, determine the competition. Spoiler alert: the less competition, the more money you will make. My motto is: Find your blue ocean. Also here, Google Trends and keyword research platforms are helpful tools to learn about your competition. 4. Define your audience: To effectively advertise your niche, it is vital to comprehend who your audience is. You start by yourself (remember? Your interests and passions), but you also need to identify demographics and preferences. Creating personas is essential. 5. Test, test, test!!! Before you go all in on your niche, it's wise to test its potential. This will help you determine if your niche can generate profits. Remember, a nice is NOT forever, and you can always switch to a new niche. 6. Educate yourself: To thrive in affiliate marketing, education is key. Educate yourself about the niche through industry publications, online courses, and attending relevant conferences. There is no room for laziness in affiliate marketing! Sum up: Discovering your specialty in affiliate marketing is an adventure that needs long-term commitment. Affiliate marketing success can take a while because it requires both time and effort. The key to success is to be patient, consistent, and adaptable. Do you have further suggestions? |
