I am going to guess that most of you guys are blue. You want the government to take care of you from cradle to grave. Truly astounding that any webmaster being a independent businessman can be blue.

Nice generalization. I'm independent (lean left), but being "blue" doesn't necessarily mean I'm in favor of supporting the leeches that live off of public assistance for years. Help in a dire time of need is one thing, but I can't stand those who live their lives with their primary source of income being their welfare check. I'm sure plenty of "blues" feel the same way.


Since we're generalizing the issues, it can also be said that it's truly astounding that anyone who works in porn would be red.

Glad you don't believe in a nanny state, but the guy you are voting for does and is doing everything possible to take our tax dollars to support lazy bums who expect the government to take care of them.

If I go on welfare, foodstamps and medicaid from my state, it's from people including all the generations of my family as well as myself who paid into those systems. And in case you didn't know, there is a limit on how much you can collect in a lifetime anyway. 5 years if I recall. I've worked about 32 years now in my life paying into this shit. May I have some back if I need it please? How about my dead parents and grandparents who all paid into them? May I have some of it if I need it in your humble opinion? How about if I'm going to die from hunger, may someone help me out plz?

Iregardless of your views when you vote blue you get a leader that is this cut and dry. Obama's record proves this. My views are not this cut and dry. Hell I liked what Clinton did for this country. But Obama has turned the US into a government dependent society. People insist now that they are "entitled" to a home, car, job, money in the bank, college education, etc iregardless if they have earned it or not.

This would make him the most amazing President in our history...and to have accomplished this in a mere three years is even more amazing...especially in light of the fact that the President cannot make law and does not control the purse strings.

Most states...if not all...only provide welfare checks to people that have children. Some states have a five year limit and some states have an eighteen month limit...but in fact limits were imposed during the Clinton years.

That's a load of bs, I know of people who have been on it a lot longer than that. They also switch to disability and get that. Which pays even more.

Ok, so how much money do these people on welfare receive from the government to help their lavish lifestyle? I can't seem to find any reliable sites with figures but everything I have seen seems awfully low... seeing between $200-$600 depending on family size per month.

History 101 Liberals and Conservatives

For those that don't know about history ... Here is a condensed version:

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic
hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer
and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer
and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the
beer. These were the foundations of modern civilization and together were
the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

1. Liberals, and
2. Conservatives.

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of
agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet,
so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be
invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That's how villages were
formed.

Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night
while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as
the Conservative movement.

Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off
the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q's and doing the
sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal
movement.

Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became
known as girlie-men. Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the
domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the
concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that
conservatives provided.

Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most
powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the
jackass.

Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white
wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well
done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare. Another
interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher
testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury
attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are
liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't
fair to make the pitcher also bat.

Conservatives drink domestic beer, mostly Bud. They eat red meat and still
provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys,
lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police
officers, corporate executives, athletes, members of the military, airline
pilots and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own
companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and
decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more
enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in
Europe when conservatives were coming to America . They crept in after the
Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for
nothing.

Research the Wefare Reform Act signed into law by President Clinton and educate yourself. People that receive a Welfare check cannot "switch to disability" unless of course they are in fact they become disabled. In addition disability does not necessarily pay more and could in fact pay substantially less.

There are plenty of ways to game the system if you know what you are doing.

Several years ago I moved from LA back to Portland. I moved into this apartment and the lady that lived below me was on "disability". I got to know her and she had two kids. Her son was now 22 and her daughter that lived with her was 13. The son wasn't married, but lived with his girlfriend and she was knocked up.

Basically, this lady went on welfare when she got pregnant with her son. Several years later as the welfare was about to run out she got knocked up again. This time as her daughter got older she became "disabled" with anxiety so conveniently as her welfare and Section 8 were about to run out she "switched" to disability.

Here is the kicker. Once she was declared "disabled" her daughter started getting checks from Social Security. Then her son's girlfriend got on welfare and she helped her son get on disability for "anxiety." I can't remember for certain but I think the baby was getting checks too because the dad was "disabled."

Obviously, this is one of those cases that is not the norm, but it shows that there are plenty of ways to work the system if you know what you are doing.

I've been self employed since I was 26 years old, and expect no significant help from the government other than to provide the basic protective services of policing road care education and the like.
