I've got an AMAZING Photo Studio, any ideas how to monetize it?
Guys I got lucky in renting for cheap 2 floors super large rooms -very nice professional studio with equipment. However, I am not a photographer and I have no thoughts on how I can make use of it. Any ideas on what business model I can do such as glamour photo shooting or what else? Any ideas please?

I have never dealt this this type of stuff before, but if it has been used as a studio before I would take some good pictures of it, put together a nice press book for for it, build a website for it and start advertising it. Send the press book you made to every magazine and book publisher in NY. Any photographers you can find in the city, send it to them as well. Maybe someone will rent it out.
If you don't plan to live in it maybe you can sublet it out as a full time studio to someone. |

Just need some ideas of what can be done with it, while I live in there. ? Cuz the place is huge and has all professional equipment. Strange you guys have no idea - since you are all in this type of industry. PS: what book publishers have to do with a studio anyway. |

You're not listening to the good advise being offered here.
Read what Kane told you again, promote to potential users. You're not advertising in magazines, you're telling the magazines about this great studio that you have for rent. Magazines have pictures in them, maybe they'd shoot those pictures at your place. Same with publishers etc. He suggested places that use studios- you have a studio. |

can you think of any business model for an adult industry that I can use my studio for? say take pictures of girls, pay them and sell it somehow. I don't know where . or contact some adult content producers instead of magazines as you say to lease my studio, etc.. that's the type of ideas I was looking for. So I am asking do you have any other thoughts? PS: I am sure this info will be useful to this forum and other members - not just me - that would love to hear what can be done if they ever have an available place to shoot models, escorts, etc. Thanks |

Rent it to me, i got some shoots coming in the NYC max maxcandy com |

Why limit yourself to adult? Wedding photographers and planners use studios, and even places that have studios, like magazines, use other places for variety.
I'd promote what you have to anyone that takes or uses pictures. |

what i would do:
1. contact two photographers in town, preferably with some good connections (1h of googling and mailing if you start from scratch) 2. offer them the studio for free for 1 month (you are not making any money out of it anyways atm) 3. tell them to refer their friends. Make some leaflets and hand them out to them. :2 cents::2 cents: |

Live in it and rent it out as location for photographers. Best way to offer it around is to approach model agencies. They already have the contacts and used to finding more people. Most good photographers will have all their own kit and be happier using it.
Makes sure the place is plush, clean and has at least two different decorations in each room. So they can just turn around the lights. |

You can line the wall with urinals, and charge guys 25 cents p/use. If the place is big enough you should be able to cash in pretty easily, especially in NYC.

My post was not about advertising it in magazines and books, but instead contacting magazines and books and letting them know it is available. Many magazines do have space that they use, but they often use/rent other spaces depending on their needs. Book publishers shoot covers for books, magazines shoot all kinds of stuff, fashion designers shoot stuff for catalogs as do stores. Freelance photographers shoot stuff for a variety of people. These are all people who might have an interest in renting your studio out, but you need to put something together and market towards them so they know it is there. But most of the examples I have given would require the space to be in NY or LA because that is where these industries are based. Where it is located will determine who you can market toward. Max has said he would rent it if it were in NY, but I doubt he is going to fly to St. Louis (or wherever it may be located) just to use your studio. Regardless of where it is the same principles apply. Find out who in that area has a need for a photo studio, put together a package promoting it and get it into their hands. |
damn, need place in NYC. Why would you not be upfront about location?

Would of got a lot more straight answers, had he not been coy about the location:winkwink: |
