I Just got Ass raped.
I took my car to the shop as I needed the timing chain replaced. The guy called me back and told me it would be $1675. I told him I had $1400 cash he said "I guess I could do it for that." I said great and dropped my car off last Thursday .He called me today and said my car was ready. I get a ride and show up with 14 hundred dollar bills only to be told the bill was $1873.95. I told him "You said on the phone you would do it for $1400 cash." He said "No I didn't if you want your car I need $1873.95."
That's bullshit huh? :Oh crap sorry to bitch but I do feel a little better.:winkwink: |

You'd better hope he did it right too. I had one guy improperly replace mine a few years ago, and it totally killed the engine. When I went back to give them what-for the place was out of business. Engine was toast.
Now we've found shop that's reasonably priced, honest, knows their shit, does all the repairs on time, etc. It's a luxury. |
next time find a guy on CL who works out of his home. I have a guy like that and he charges half of what the shops charge
|
thats sad 1400 is high for a timing chain. that's transmission range rebuilt installed. hope he threw in dinner and a movie at least

When I was 20 I had a similar situation (this was in the early 90's). My car would just die while driving down the road. I took it in and they checked it out. They told me the timing chain was slipping and needed to be replaced. They quoted me $450 for the work and I had them do it. What was supposed to be a 2 or 3 day job at the most turned into a 3 week job. They kept calling me and telling me they found this and they found that and had to fix it. I had to have it done because I needed the car and I had to rent a car this entire time which added to the cost.
In the end my bill came up to about $1600. I drained my account and borrowed some from a friend and got the car back. Two days later it did the same exact thing it did before and died while going down the road. I took it to another garage and they told me it was my distributor cap. It had a crack and when it heated up it would expand and cause the car to misfire. All that other stuff was likely not needed. They charged me $50 to fix it and the problem was solved. A friend of mine's dad was a lawyer at the time. When I told him what happened he was pissed and went after the other garage. They eventually settled with us and gave me $1000 of my money back. I learned my lesson then. If possible get two opinions and get the price in writing. |

Well, of course your mechanic is trying to screw you. What do you think? That?s what they do. They can make up anything. Nobody knows. ?By the way, you need a new Johnson rod in there.? ?Oh, a Johnson rod. Yeah, well, you better put one of those on.?

But in this case it was not just inflating the price, it was agreeing on price and then saying "we did not agree on that".. This is double screwing... |

the car business is full of schmucks. if you wanna get him back, leave an oiled rag in your engine bay & let it set the car on fire. then accuse him of leaving the rag in the engine & sue his ass. one good scam deserves another.

This guy and my friend worked at VW dealership back in the 80's together so I trusted him my bad. On a another note they forgot to put my battery cover back on. LOL It does dive very nicely gain.

Sounds like you got ripped off (how much do timing chains/belts cost)...Kick him in the Duderus for raping your anus! :winkwink: :stoned ADG |
3 options.
1. Tow your car out the lot on off hours. 2. Hire a mobile locksmith during off hours. 3. Call in your vehicle being stolen. |
Get your revenge by posting several scathing online reviews.
