30 year old movies that stand the test of time…
 

Was just reading through the Back to the Future thread and remembering some good laughs…

I did watch Back to the Future a few years back and I still enjoyed it.

Made the mistake of watching all 3 of the original Star Wars several years ago and now cannot stand any of them.

Goonies I watched last year and was still laughing pretty hard. Love Sloth!

Blazing Saddles

I watched Tombstone a couple of months ago. It is about 25 years old and I thought it still held up well.

Oh! I watched The Jerk a couple months ago. Was still laughing.

Watched Rocky series earlier this year, had never seen it before. There were ups and downs but overall was pretty good.

better off dead is still great. Fast Times At Ridgemont High is still a movie I might watch if it's on one of the cable channels. All the old Die Hard movies are still good. Lethal Weapon..

And I still like all the 1st Star Wars films

I'm going to have to go with Vietnam. So many quotable lines.


Whenever someone uses the "no plot" criticism about any movie, you can always bring up Full Metal Jacket as proof that plot is not needed for a great movie. Sure, it has a narrative structure and theme, but there's not A to B plotting. And it's considered one of the great films of all time.

Airplane! still holds up very well. it's unreal how good that movie is

Alien and Aliens

Watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail recently and...I laughed at all the same dumb shit.

That popped on TV the other day and I watched it and was surprised how much I still enjoyed it, hilarious.

back to the future pt 1
next year: the sequel and tango & cash will be in the same basket

watch Rambo First Blood. Only watched it as a kid a dozen times or so. Finally saw it again as an adult a while ago, and realized how good that movie is. It surprised me!

Live Aliens. I tried watching Alien again a few times in the last few years and sadly it just doesn't hold up. It was scary at the time though. And Ash's talking head on the table is just too awful for me to believe anymore.


The thing is one of my all-time favourite horror movies. Great story, amazing tension, and some of the best special effects in any movie.

He used to co-star with Paolo Villagio, his movie "Il ragazzo di campagna" is a must see for all who like these Italian comedies.

R.I.P. Bud Spencer

Over Memorial Day Weekend they had the original Star Wars, Jaws and Raiders Of The Lost Ark on - all at the same exact time! I ended up switching between Star Wars and Raiders...maybe I have a Harrison Ford man crush (OK - I know I have a Harrison Ford man crush).

Field Of Dreams is great too. Just sayin'. :)

I like all those as well but Jaws is one of my all time favorite movies. I read the book when I was about 12 and it scared the hell out of me.
