Is there life after death?

part of me wants to say yes...I cannot imagine not existing.

But then the common sense drops in and I kick myself for thinking such bullshit.

So what is the consensus on the board? Life after death? Or dust to dust?

:angel:feels-hot

DaddyHalbucks 02-18-2009 11:24 AM

Is there any evidence of life after death? I have not seen anything credible.

If you live your life expecting an afterlife, you may be very disappointed.

CDSmith 02-18-2009 11:25 AM

There's only one way to find out for sure. :D

The rest, whether you think there is or there isn't, is called faith.

tranza 02-18-2009 11:25 AM

Sorry, can't help you bro, I never died before.

Dirty Lord 02-18-2009 11:27 AM

The amount of people that die daily, you'd think that some of them would try and communicate with the living to let us know that there is. So the question becomes, if there is life after death, is it possible to communicate with the living.

When I die, I will make it my life (deaths) work to try and let people know that there is life after death. I promise

Martin 02-18-2009 11:38 AM

They way I look at it is like this. If there is great, if there isn't oh well I guess it would be like you were never born. Just no longer.

MoreMagic 02-18-2009 11:40 AM

Have died and I am still alive. So yes I supose so.

GetSCORECash 02-18-2009 11:46 AM

Live your life now! You won't get a second chance.

WebairGerard 02-18-2009 11:59 AM

i think it becomes more of a question of is there consciousness after death. not a life as we know it certainly.

this statment totally conflicts with itself, if theres nothing then it will be like before you were born...nothing. lol you wont care because the emotions required for caring wont exist either. you, wont be you. you wont exist and everything that you think makes up you wont exist either. so who cares? live while you can then die

If there is no afterlife then there would be no continuance of consciousness by which to GET dissappointed.

there is no cycle of seasons without Fall

as much as we would all like to live forever, we cannot. Nor can the trees, or the leaves.

and there is nothing afterwards.

After death your life energy goes back into the universe.

seeandsee 02-18-2009 12:05 PM

There is one special place after you get dead called peace ;)

LAJ 02-18-2009 12:16 PM

Think of the 6 billion years that preceeded your birth and your recollection of it all.

I would imagine that's what it's like after you die.

qxm 02-18-2009 12:20 PM

I think that supernovas that collapse or implode become stars so dense and heavy that it tears the space/time plane and as such they go through a hole in space thus allowing us to dive into the event horizon of a blackhole and travel to a far distant part of the space ...

Yeah... the question above is as philosophical as the off topic thought I just wrote... but technically .. there is no consciousness or life after death... it is scientifically impossible (or at least it hasn't yet been proven) ... and as far as religion if yer christian u might know the bible says:

Eccl. 9:5 - For the living know that they shall die but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

And as far as I know Jesus was against mediums and all that sort of hocus pocus ...but then again... the bible does talk about "resurrection"... the creation of man from dust and "a breath of life"...and a special effects filled apocalypse ....

My conclusion... since there is no way to prove or test life or there we say "consciousness" after death.. u can believe whatever u want because this is a very philosophical topic :)

2012 02-18-2009 12:23 PM

maybe , you just go back to where you came from in the first place .

PowerCum 02-18-2009 12:30 PM

Yes, you have 3 lifes in total. Once you die 3 times you must "INSERT COIN" to continue playing.
Every 50.000 points you earn you get an extra life.
Now go and save the princess from the Donkey Kong :)

So, the universe starts up with a huge pool of atoms with no purpose, no plan, no agenda..
Atoms can, just like balls on a pool table, react to the movement of the other balls..

So, all this atom pushing to other atoms follwing a strict set of rules.. just like when a billard ball hits another billard ball, some how evolved into human beings talking about the very same universe which created them

"But it's evolution that created man"..

Yes, but this whole atom-pushing-atom thing somehow created evolution.. isn't that bizzare?

of course its bizarre, people just need to realise there are somethings we cant fully understand, our minds only have so much of a capacity. and if you start taking what you dont understand, and create theories on the subject...then eventually those theories become beleifs and those beleifs become religion.

the truth is that no one can know for sure wtf happens when you die because your not dead, and as for those people who apparently died and went to a place then came back, well yeah ti could have been a spiritual plane, or it could be a hallucination created from the strange combinations of chemicals that your brain produces under such strange circumstances...or it could be something no one has yet thought of.

in the end, personally, ive come to realise that this isnt something that you can find answers to by speculating and idea sharing on webmaster forums. its something that no one has reached and if you speculate, than thats all it is, speculation.

Just like turning off your computer

Calico Jack 02-18-2009 02:49 PM

I would like to think so (though I'm not sure) as there are some people who've been in my life that I would dearly love to see again.

dial 02-18-2009 02:50 PM

Quoted for truth.

Not only your energy but your mass, your atoms, your water and everything else that makes us.

you been posting some deep shit lately Ray.

Yes..... It is the First Law of Thermodynamics... Energy and matter can neither be created nor destroyed but merely changed.

JaneB 02-18-2009 06:04 PM

I would like to think there is a Heaven. A place where your soul goes and you get to see the people that you love that died before you. I hope it exists. I would like to see my sister again.

I have thought I felt her around. Her picture used to keep flipping off of the bookshelf and I asked her to stop it. It has not flipped since. :)

J. Falcon 02-18-2009 06:20 PM

That is irrelevant

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 02-18-2009 06:30 PM

The real question is...
DO you want there to be an after life?

The whole eternity thing scares me. Surely being exhistant for all eternity is some sort of torterous damnation isnt it?

So I am kind hoping not or at the least be able to turn myself off when I wish.

I think it has to do with being six months away from turning 40. It's really strange but I woke up one night and said "Holy shit...I'm going to be 40!" . I thought of myself as a kid for Christ sakes and then all of a sudden WHAM! I am the same age as I remember my father being. It makes you consider your mortality.

That and being I have an IQ in the 145-154 range...It's actually a curse, not a benefit. you can't stop thinking about shit like this. Analyzing everything on multiple vertical levels and the thoughts never stop.
