What is the best way to find a programmer.
To work on speculative work? Not sure if I have the correct term.
I'm looking for a partner in a mainstream website. [email protected] Also, does anyone know where the best place would be to find someone like this? Maybe the local university? Young, hungry, loves to code and doesn't have a family! Ruby on rails or any LAMP will do! :thumbsup |

A school isn't a bad place to look. We're in a college town and found a recent graduate via craigslist. Finding someone with a clue is hard enough; I wish you luck finding someone clueful who will do speculative work.

Flash em a moob

i'd contact someone you may know that has custom scripts see who they use. programmers are flaky and you'll probably want someone you can trust and actually complete the job with good coding.

Their is a Partnerships section at DP however lots of these guys really don`t have two pennies to rub together and secondly, some of the work quality isn`t considered to be of the highest standard in the world. Still might be worth a look though. :)

if it isn't an adult project contact local universities and see if they need companies for their students to do a stage at. they get experience and you get a free employee.

After spending shitload of hours with searching and working with various programmers all over world,i concluded how it's best to learn programming by myself,so i did that. And guess what,it's very easy,i dont know why i hesitated all these years.I would save a lot of trouble and money if i did that earlier.

I know it's going to be hard to find! |
In my experience, these types of scenarios NEVER end well. I would suggest posting what you need on ODesk.com

Drocd is that kind of programmer... Not sure if he has time...
|
Reminds me of the facebook story.
|
How much are you paying monthly for a full timer? Skype, i have a database of em.

That said, what's the project? It just might be something we'ce already done most of the work on. If I was convinced it would make money and the time investment were minimal, I might consider putting my team on it or referring you to someone who may be interested. Also for some projects one could find an open source project that more or less meets your needs and sponsor development at a very low cost. |

My company does such kinds of projects... but there are several rules:
1 ) A new formed company is made for that specific project and that new company is based in Spain. 2 ) If you provide only the idea, and no money, then we get 75% of the project share and 25% is for you. Also there is an extra clause in the contract in case the project gets sold some day (tends to happen) you get 30% of the sale price (instead of 25%) after expenses. That's for projects that need less than 250k euro to get working. For more expensive projects your share goes down. 3 ) If you also provide the money to run with all the show, then we take between 40% and 50% of the project share. Depending on the project cost this could be negotiated. 4 ) If it's a military use project, then it cannot be a missile guidance system. Everything else is ok. We have a bit more rules like these, but basically the percentage shares make it easy to separate real projects from useless ones. |

need i tell you how many sites and site owners i never heard from again? LOL it all sounds great, but when someone isnt getting a single dime from something that begins to take up a lot of time, you lose interest quickly as the bills mount and youre left working for nothing. i was joking last night how a client had promised me revenue from a site I did some stuff for etc... he sold the site not long after lol luckily i made him give me some money up fron that at least covered the designs i delivered :) |

I had a deal like this set up with Donovan Phillips with porn sites, and for awhile I was getting nice ccbill checks. but nothing seems to last forever in this world and things change. He ended up turning religious and selling. If the deal was good and mutually benefitting or at least worth investment of time, id probably still do it lol not being negative at all really, just in my experience, yes you can make a couple dollars but its not everlasting as if you paid programmer off and did all work yourself. |

http://www.peopleperhour.com/ we get people from here all the time. Just post a job and wait for the bids to come in. Out of about 10 bids you will find 1 or 2 that you will consider.

They have a good escrow system; you deposit your payment, and release it when the job is done. If they can't finish the job in time you file a dispute and you'll get your money back |
