Miley Cyrus apologizes for sexy photos
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Teen idol Miley Cyrus, the fresh-faced star of Disney's "Hannah Montana" television franchise, has apologized for two sets of photos in which she flashes her bra, lies across a boy's lap, and appears semi-nude.
The 15-year-old churchgoing daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus said in a statement on Sunday that she was embarrassed about some photos released on the Internet and others to be published in Vanity Fair magazine. The first series of photos, which circulated on the Internet last week, showed Cyrus draped over the lap of her then-boyfriend, her producer's son, while another showed her revealing part of her green bra. She is also starring in some as-yet released shots by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz in which she appears to be topless and wrapped in a blanket. These are set to be published in Vanity Fair magazine's June edition. "For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed," Cyrus said in a statement published on People magazine's Web site. The Disney Channel backed up the rising star saying in a statement that "a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines." No one from Vanity Fair was immediately available to comment. But in a statement to the TV show "Entertainment Tonight," Vanity Fair defended itself. "Miley's parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley," said the magazine's statement. Regarding the photos on the Internet, Cyrus said these were "silly, inappropriate shots" and she was sorry if she had disappointed anyone. "I appreciate all the support of my fans, and hope they understand that along the way I am going to make mistakes and I am not perfect," she said. "Most of all, I have let myself down. I will learn from my mistakes and trust my support team. My family and my faith will guide me through my life's journey." Late last year, some candid photos of Cyrus frolicking with a female friend during a sleepover raised some eyebrows. She said at the time that there was "nothing wrong" with those photos. Cyrus rocketed to fame as "Hannah Montana" on the Disney Channel's TV show of the same name about a girl who leads a double life as a teenager and singing sensation. "Hannah Montana" ranks first among TV series of U.S. cable television for children aged 6 to 14. Her concert tour last year, "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds" was a sensation, sparking a 3D movie that topped the box office chart. http://www.reuters.com/article/enter...andCha nnel=0 |

She's 15, girls that age always do stupid things like that, but she has to keep in mind that she is a role model.
|
I dont think I'd recognize her no matter where she was. I understand she's a teen girls idol, but sheesh. Non teen girl people really caring is what's odd to me.

She should know better. This seams like a publicity stunt, to have her break out of the Disney fan base of 12 year old girls.
|
Is what she really all that bad?
I think people just live for tearing down celebrities like this who appeal to the youth...they're just waiting for her to make that silly teen mistake....and exploit it for a week's worth of tv shows and a month's worth of magazine articles. I can only imagine if there were cameras around when i was making stupid mistakes as a teen...yikes |
dont post pics...my daughter watches that show
|
she'll be the next sex tape. i say give it till she's 23. going down the same path as brit and lindsay. once those teen idol girls grow up and meet hollywood and all the parties, its over. no matter how good they were raised. tons of money and temptation everywhere is REALLY hard to avoid. mark my words.

pretty intriguing :) where are the pics. ;)
|
So she's fucking her producer's son? That's like a casting couch with steps.
|
She's human...get over it.
|
her fucking white trash parents where there! 15 year old girls should not be allowed to make those stupid fucking mistakes while the parents are watching.

I guess implied CP is okay as long as it appears in Vanity Fair... :upsidedow
Crazy thing is, that if most of us were to shoot a 15-year old like that, we would be slammed hard... Here are some of the other pictures in question: http://regulus2.azstarnet.com/blogs/images/4329.jpg Looks like he is thinking, got this hottie in my lap, so now what do I do? :1orglaugh http://regulus2.azstarnet.com/blogs/images/4330.jpg Girls just wanna have fun, or licorice... http://cm1.dotspotter.com/media/0/46...e_this_one.jpg The celebrity press, and many of the entertainers themselves (who know that their every public move is being recorded), know that sleaze sells (or even just implied sleaze), and they don't appear about to stop as long as it is hugely profitable for them. the crazy thing is, that theres laws against a girl younger than 18 posting pictures of herself like those on the net, yet big companies are still allowed to obviously manipulate young children into doing things like this
if you ask me, all laws that protect children are there to protect them from people manipulating them, and if I were in charge that magazine would have some answering to do |
The vanity pictures that CNN is talking about had her dad sitting right there. I mean if he was upset in anyway - then they wouldn't take them.
|
I never heard of this girl before this thread.

no comment

Vanity Fair can publish pics of a semi-clad 15 year old?
Hmmm.. |

These pics aren't professional at all and you can tell they weren't meant for publication. Unlike the ones with her dad. Hell she had RED EYE in one of them. Obviously someone duped her into thinking these pics were just for fun and would be private and then they used them to generate publicity. |
This girl is going to have to get used to the fact that she can't even pick her nose without some guy 300 yards away with a souped up telephoto lens sniping through a dryer vent snapping her doing it.
Privacy doesn't exist at her level. Or if it does you never know when you have it. |

if you have a child, especially a daughter between the ages of 5 and 15, you can't escape either persona...Hannah Montana or Miley Cyrus... |
pics really weren't that big of a deal.... I was just surprised that Annie Liebowitz was taking essentially a cheesecake pic of a 15 year old... I mean a towel/blanket/whatnot with a bare back? Call it art, call it what you want, it's a girl in a semi provocative pose.
Put her in a swimsuit and change the pose and sure, it's now athletic.... As the photographer, you know exactly what you are doing. Just because you are extremely well known doesn't change that fact. But then again, when it comes down to it, there is a difference between nudity and CP. Naked pictures of someone that is underage do not make them CP. I am not going to do it myself, but nudity does not equate to obscenity or CP.... This is sensationalistic and the tabloids needed something to run with... they got it.. good for them. |

She is so going to end up like Britney

All celebs know controversy = bank.
The whole thing sounds orchestrated to me. What better way to gain (further) exposure than do a sitting with renowned Liebowitz and then publicly denegrate her efforts. Agreed, it sounds like the pics were somewhat provocative for a 15-yr-old...but with the family present and available to preview the digital pics on-set and not raising objections at the time of the shoot - the rest sounds like a media circus. |

you might have had a valid point, but if you had been paying attention in the last year you would know that she takes pictures like that over and over again and they end up on the net over and over again over the last year, so your "someone duped her" comment doesn't hold up to the reality of the fact that she sees nothing wrong in it and loves the attention the only reason for the "apology" is because of Disney and/or some agents/handlers (kind of like the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction apology) |

I however do not feel it is a cash grab, hell she is profiting an estimated one million a week for the past year alone. |

She's expected to be worth 1 billion on her 18th birthday.. good lord. Buy an island and be done with it.
