Democrats' Health Bill: Buy Insurance or Go To Jail
The Democrats' bill that will be voted on in the House tomorrow says a family of four either needs to buy insurance for $15,000 per year, pay a penalty tax of 2.5% of income or face a penalty of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years. This should be popular. :winkwink:

I can't wait until Obama finally reforms healthcare.
All of the idiots who are spreading false info will finally get to STFU! Then they can lie about something new, like Obama wants to kill and eat your children, or is a secret communist space alien, or whatever stupid shit they can sell to the brainless morons who like to listen to their nonsense. |

The teabaggers are big lying whiners, BUT...
It is certainly not impossible that whatever bills our corporate-duck-sucking congress actually writes will have mandatory health insurance purchasing with penalties for non-compliance. That's fully in line with the kind of thinking a bought-and-paid-for congress would produce. |

http://docs.house.gov/rules/health/111_ahcaa.pdf I didn't read it, but I did do a search for sections 7201 and 7203 and I could not find anything. Maybe you can point them out in the bill. |

You can read the fucking Congressional report here. http://republicans.waysandmeans.hous...tter110509.pdf |
Why is it so fucking hard for you illiterate Obamabots to understand that you cannot have a fucking mandatory insurance requirement without fucking penalties for enforcement?
How hard is it understand that if you fail to pay the fucking penalty taxes that you can be prosecuted for tax evasion? Even if you are unable to read (as seems painfully obvious at this point), a little common fucking sense would suffice. :helpme |

Easy does it, you are going to burst a blood vessel. |

One of the major problems with health care is the non-payers. These are people who go to the ER and urgent care centers and get treatment then don't pay. That cost is then passed on to everyone else. So if a person just doesn't want health insurance for no legit reason and ends up becoming a non-payer we all then get to pay for them. You are forced to carry car insurance if you drive, I think they are using the same principles here. I also think they are expecting to supply enough subsidies that anyone can get health insurance no matter how little money you make so the only reason for not having it would be that you just decided that you don't need it and don't want it even if the government is paying for it. Still, sending someone to jail over this is pretty extreme. However, if you read the full letter at the bottom it says that out of all the cases they were filed in 2008 only about 100 were cases where they determined the taxpayer?s unpaid tax liability results from willful behavior. Obviously this doesn't include health care since we don't have it yet, but I think the point is that very few people will fall into this area. The rest will just be taxed what it would cost them to have health insurance. From what I read you can make up to around 80K a year and you will still get some kind of government assistance for health insurance so I don't think this clause will effect many people. |

if that bill hasn't been voted on, that means it hasn't been passed right? Maybe you should figure out what insulting people for nothing means in conversation fascist |

There are legitimate arguments to be made for mandatory insurance coverage. Obviously for coverage to be mandatory there needs to be penalties for non compliance. There are arguments to be made on the merits of the policies but instead the Obama noise machine is attempting to ram through the bill without even his most ardent supporters having any idea what it is about...... as is painfully demonstrated by the imbeciles posting in this thread. If we are going to radically change health care in this country then it would be a good idea if people understood the basic issues involved. Instead people spend all their times frothing at the mouth about "tea baggers" and "death panels". I strongly believe that most of the people who claim they support the Democrats' plan don't have any fucking idea what is is or what it will do. If people understood the implications then it would be very unpopular. That is why they are ramming it through as quickly as they can. |

These guys don't seem to have a scalpel, all they know is jackhammer and they end up doing too much. Hell, I bet most of the people that will be voting on the bill in the next few days haven't read it and don't really know what is in there. |

You do realize that when you're a prisoner, the tax payers fund your health care, right? They pay for all your care, your health issues, your medications, etc.
So you'll be in jail, but you'll get that chemo you need for free! Every time I go to the hospital, I see a guy in shackles with 2 policemen escorting him so you can pay for him to get a bandaid on his boo boo. |
I thought I was crazy for saying that?
Stupid fucks. |
